Hey Unca 20#

Postby horsey girl » March 7th, 2005, 2:38 pm

Unca, You can FINALLY add me to the 20# club! 20.5 lbs and this is the last day of my 6th week. Thanks 24K for reminding of your 4th and 5th week. I was getting discouraged.[0 lbs last week] I do have some questions. What about this free food I read about? I did start adding a couple of spoonfulls of salsa to my minestrone and chili after I read about it and now wonder if it slowed things up. I use a couple of bullion cubes in my soup and I am a salt fiend on my food. I don't suppose that helps but does Medifast say anything about salt? We are off to a convention and then to Florida to a horse sale on Wednesday. I am taking my medifast with me. Wish me luck, the banquets will be tough. I see we are getting a lot of Texans on this list. Is that because we just found out Texas owns a lot of the nations fattest cities? Take care all and keep shaking. HG

Yay! Congratulations!

I don't really think any of the things you mentioned (salsa, bouillon, salt) slowed you down, I just think your body was adjusting to its skinnier self and was "testing" things.

Have fun at the horse sale!

Congratulations Horsey Girl!!! :cheerleader:

Way to go girl. You are on your way. Stay away from all that salt, you may want to try Lite Salt in a blue box. I am no expert, but I used to eat a lot of salt and when I did I retained a bunch of water weight.

Have a great trip in Florida, let me know how the horse show goes.

Have a blast! Your trip sounds like a lot of fun. No worries about the sodium in the bouillon and salsa. Adding salt to your foods generally will not significantly create havoc for you per se. If you have hypertension, then naughty naughty! If you are drinking plenty of wah-wah, you'll be fine.

Hey! A loud whinny to you for reaching that 20 pound milestone!

You are such a loser, HG!

BTW, the "free food" is two dill pickles and three stalks of celery...

Now I am confused. Is The salsa legal or not? I have read several times of people using it to add to chili. If so how much? This one has 5 cal and 2 carbs per 2 tbl serving. Does it come out of the vegetable allowance? Thanks HG

Dear Horsey Girl ~

The Salsa is a condiment and it does not count as your veggie serving.

2 Hurking Tablespoons is what I use.

I like to dip celery or cucumber into salsa. The Multi-grain crackers are great dipped in the old Salsa pot, too.

It is good drizzled on salad, on steamed veggies, in the Medifast Homestyle chili, in the Minestrone and stirred into the Robust Tomato Fast Soup.

CONGRAT'S HORSEY GIRL!! I hope to be in the club very soon!

While we're talking salsa - what kind are we looking for? Does Medifast make some and I've missed it? What calorie/carb/sugar combo am I looking for? My family LOVES salsa and I think it would make my taste buds like the chili a bit better ;)
Thanks,
Donna

Donna ~

Medifast doesn't make a salsa.

I use whatever kind I like.

I usually buy the fresh kind at the deli counter or in the produce section.

I have purchased some canned salsa at Trader Joe's that has lime and habanera peppers in it. Most salsa has about 10-12 calories and minimal carbs per tablespoon.
