Flooding

Postby Ketann » June 28th, 2006, 8:53 am

The area I live in is in a state of emergency. The road I live on - there is a bridge on both sides to get on the main street in town - are destroyed. We are pretty much stuck here. Hubby is helping what he can. This is a small town. I just wanted you all to know I may not be on here much. We are ok though, we live on a hill and had no flooding on our property. So many houses down the hill were destroyed in the middle of the night. A 16 year old
girl is missing - her house was washed away while she was on the 2nd floor screaming for help. I am so upset as I knew her well. We may take in some people. I am ready and willing. Please pray for the people here. Thanks,

Keturah

I have been watching this flooding on the news. I live in Pa but much further down in the SW Corner so am not directly affected, although I have distant relatives in Wilkesbarre, Pa.

Will keep the entire situation in my prayers as well as your family.

Hugs,
Gina

Thanks everyone. I live in Sullivan County, NY They did a story on the CBS news in New York about the town I live in - Livingston Manor. They said it was one of the worst hit areas. We are OK, just stuck.

I'm so sorry, Keturah. But I'm glad to know you're OK. Let us know if there's anything we can do. I know after Katrina, folks here helped out by sending Medifast supplements to a member who lost her home.

Again, everyone, thank you for your prayers. I have been sticking to Medifast, even with all that's going on. The only thing my Dr. has said is to have 1 or 2 extra supplements, since I have been doing A LOT of walking and helping with clean up. I think I am in better shape than I have been in a very long time (thank you Medifast).
My only concern is that since the bridges are both out on both sides going to our road, there will be no UPS or Fedex delivery. Since the post office does not deliver to our house, we have a P.O. Box. We are able to get out now, but we had to drive through someone's field to do so. We have a road behind our property that gets us into town to the mail, store, ect. We are keeping the truck parked there. I tried to contact mt HA via email (she is at the conference in Utah), but haven't heard from her. I am going to call the TSFL office tomorrow and beg them to send my medigrub to the P.O. Box. Does anyone think it is possible they will/can do that? If need be, I will pay the postage. My auto shipment is scheduled to be delivered July 6th.

Other than that, we are OK. It just breaks my heart to see so many houses lost. I grew up in Tornado valley (Kansas) and it still suprises me what Mother Nature can do.

Hugs to all,

Keturah

Hopefully, they will be able to send your MF by post office...if not- post here and let us know. I know I would be happy to send you some if we use any of the same meal packets...you could just trade them back when you do get yours. Just let us know...

Meanwhile, God bless all of you there. So thankful you and yours are safe and that your home was not hurt.

Again, thank you everyone for your prayers and offers to assist me. I think I have walked up and down both sides of the hill/road 100 times in the last few days. I have delivered groceries to all our sick/elderly neighbors, since they have been stuck on our 'island". I can say I am blessed to have met so many people I never have before and heard so many wonderful stories of our small town I moved to in 2001. Thankfully, last night the wonderful workers were able to finish one bridge so we may safely drive over it. They have been working around the clock for us. I appreciate their hard work, since now I have no worries of my medigrub order. Hubby was able to go to work today, and we are all going to try and get our lives back together.

The young girl's funeral will be on Monday. It is too heartbreaking for me to attend, however hubby and I sent flowers and a donation to the family. I will miss her more than I know how to share.

Hugs, Keturah
