I don't understand this

Postby Elimatal » October 9th, 2005, 7:27 am

Well, I'm on to day 9 on the MF diet, and am utterly confused and frusterated. I had a starting weight of 220lbs, got down to 213, and somehow in the past 2 days, have gone back up to 219. I haven't cheated at all--not once. I've been drinking the water--doing everything that I'm supposed to be doing. I was so encouraged to see the weight dropping, it was making all the hunger and cravings worthwhile. Nothing in my diet or routine has changed, and my scale is fine, and yet there is a gain of six pounds. I don't understand. I'm ready to give this whole thing up--I mean, why spend the money on all the MediFast stuff if it isn't going to work? Maybe it's just me---I have read so many testimonials of people who have had tremendous sucess on the MF diet. Perhaps I just wasn't meant to be one of them. :(

Weight gain

Postby Jan » October 9th, 2005, 10:39 am

Oh My goodness,
If you have been doing everything exactly correct -- my guess is that you are retaining some fluid. That happens especially at a certain time of the month :? Also things such as stress, lack of sleep, certain meds, or outside temperature can cause fluid retention. Don't worry the pounds which came back are not fat!! They are most likely water weight. I would suggest putting away that nasty discourager called  -- the scale, stay very very compliant, wait a couple weeks and then see what happens. If you are compliant you will lose weight. That's just a fact!! I know it is very very easy to become discouraged especially when we want something a great deal. You will lose -- put away the scale!!

Its so funny, I started at 220 also and got to 213 in a week and then gained to 219 in one day.... it was TOM. I got off the plan because of that and now I am starting again today at 219.

A welcome sigh of relief......

Postby Elimatal » October 10th, 2005, 12:17 pm

Hello to all......I am happy to report, that although I don't get regular monthly visitors (ie T.O.M.--due to depo shot), it must have been "that time" anyway, and I retained a ton of fluid....I got on the scale this morning...(I'm addicted to weighing myself :x :x ) and I am down to 209.5 :exercise: !!!! Thank you all SO MUCH for all of your kind words and encouragement, and I am so sorry for being so down about the MF diet. It is a wonderful program, and is finally making a believer out of me!

Thank you so much for sharing with us. Reading about your experiences will really help me when it is my turn to be upset with the scales.

Good luck and keep up the good work! I know it is tough but everyone is here for you.

Eli,

Just so you know, I have had a fluctuation of 8 pounds in ONE DAY. Yes, I am not kidding. I was completely on program too. Number one, you CANNOT TRUST ANY SCALE. Number two, even if your scale is right, you can't be willing to throw out the whole program because of a gain, esspecially if you are doing everything right. You have to be faithful to medifast and MORE IMPORTANTLY YOU MUST HAVE FAITH IN IT. Even when you see things to the contrary, you have to have enough faith in this program to continue on, no matter what the numbers say. You won't be sorry you stuck with it. I PROMISE.
