Me, too!

I wish I shared your enthusiasm for the vanilla pudding!
The concoctions you described sound muy delicioso, until
I remember how vehemently I abhor the vanilla-flavored
anything MF. Seriously. My loathing is intense. I'd sooner
have a broccoli soup float, with a tomato soup chaser.
Not a fan of those either, could you tell?

Hey, I left you a message in my journal!
Read it and then GO DRINK MORE WATER!!

If I weren't so sweaty, I'd hug 'ya!

Holy cow, but the root beer "float" idea was amazing!!! Had one last night. I have never been a fan of the vanilla anythings either, but the creamy root beer hit the spot after such a hot and sticky day as we had here in Central Ohio! Thanks for the idea. I think I have an new fav. for a day or two! I am wondering how diet orange soda would be??? Thinking something like a Dreamscicle???

Oh and next time you sneak off to Hulagirl's place, let me know - I have always wanted to see the Islands!

I need to remember this feeling -- the energy, the bad breath that reminds me my body's working on the fat issue, the dress that zipped up this morning, the scale moving, the folks who thanked Mike and me last night for sharing our story with them, the realization that I'm getting healthy and it's having a residual impact on the lives of others.

Busy day today with a ton of potential train wrecks: a bbq this afternoon, and a birthday party tonight.

Here's the crazy thing -- when Mike goes off plan, my knee-jerk reactions is "Fine!" and then I follow him, sometimes bite-for-bite. That's not good for either of us. The thing is, his system can take a little bit of flexibility and mine can't. I've been trying to figure this out and wouldn'cha know it, it goes back to old childhood patterns. This is really silly and very twisted, but food was always a competitive and territorial area in my family, particularly hording and making sure one got an equal -- and I mean morsel-for-morsel -- share.

So, my new behavioral goal: consider only what I need to fuel my body and don't consider anyone else's plate, serving, bite, consumption, not even (or especially not) my dear husband's.

Good for you Diana. Watching my skinny little size 5 daughter eat as much of anything that she wants to eat and maintain her athletic build is frustrating for me. I am always reminding myself that God made me a certain way for a certain reason and that includes my metabolism. I have to remember to be concerned only with what my body needs.

I really enjoyed your post, Di because I have a tendency to follow the boys I work with on the road right off program and have to realize that I can't eat or cheat like them! It's about ME and my body and marching expediently towards health! Thanks for the reminder!

I think my metabolism has changed, and I need to recognize that myself... I can't handle the little things that I "usedtacould"... so I'm with you on the "I" thing. ;)

thanks for the encouragement, guys. It means a lot to know that it helps to post my own struggles and revelations. Sharon, I'm glad you're in my life -- the fact that YOU see growth in the flesh, not just on the board, means a tremendous amount.

"Wilson," sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday, but Mike reassured me he had contacted you.

I had a CT scan yesterday morning, then a root canal (then a nail appointment I almost slept through). I'm having sinus surgery -- nothing terribly exciting, just the "normal" roto-rooter thing on Tuesday, July 29th. Tomorrow morning, I have the pre-op with the surgeon, then next Thursday, I'll have a phone appointment with the anethesiologist (Mike and I will be in Orlando at the TSFL National Conference). Hopefully, I'll be able to make it to my appointment with Sharon so she can make me look beautiful, and then off to the massage that I missed tonight.

We're almost packed. I'm not as sore from the root canal as I thought I'd be, but chewing is still a little more taxing than comfortable. GREAT for shakes! Not so good for chicken and string beans.

Welp, happy Medibuds, I'm off to get some stuff done before bed. Love and hugs all around.

OMG, a root canal AND sinus surgery!?! You are glutton for punishment! I had sinus surgery a coupla years ago, and it was one of the best things I ever did! I used to get infections one after the other, and now they're really rare for me <knocking on wood>

Hi, guys.

Well, after all that, the good news is I'm no longer a candidate for the surgery. The Flonase, etc, are working and my sinus tissue is much reduced from last year. The symptoms, he says, are what they're seeing from the smoky air. Soooo, keep up the meds, find clean or at least filtered are to breathe, and no surgery.

I shoulda waited 'til today to post anything. . . I was going to, but just spilled it all last night. Thanks, though, for the well wishes.

Made my appt w/ Sharon, so now I look gorgeous (fluff fluff). But didn't make it back to Benicia in time for my massage. Oh well. I'm sure if I really need one, I can find one in Orlando.

The conference is a GREAT time! Lots of workshops with the leaders in the company -- Terry usually does something on the business aspect, Nancy usually does something on client support. Dr. Andersen himself does workshops along with the rest of the leadership. And they always have very powerful keynote speakers. The last two years have been Robert Fritz. . . great stuff on changing behaviors, patterns, self-concepts in order to create the life you want. I can't remember who this year's keynote is.

The big news this summer is the launching of Dr. Andersen's book Habits of Health and accompanying workbook. There's a whole bank of workshops on the book and workbook, and (I assume) using these to help coach folks through the BeSlim program to maintain fit and healthy lives.

Yes, there are TONS of success stories (no pun intended) both in health and weightloss as well in the business aspect of Take Shape for Life. And two of the greatest are our very own Terry and Nancy Pettit. I am ALWAYS inspired and encouraged when I get the opportunity to hear their story, how they've regained health and how God has also blessed their finances through this organization. In addition to maintaining their weight losses (70 lbs for Terry, 135 for Nancy), Terry is a part-time pastor, Nancy is a former school teacher and now ministers with Terry. I come back with a fist full of "trading cards" (business cards from other health coaches). It's also encouraging to be able to put a face and a background with folks we hear on the various calls. . .just like when our own Ms. Lauren was Nancy's guest on the Maintenance Call some time ago.
