Day three and still sorting it all out!

Postby Pegann » March 11th, 2007, 3:53 pm

Well I made the leap and joined MF. I have to lose 60-75 pounds. Today is Day 3 and actually not so bad. I have not had many side effects thank goodness. Of course being new to the program, that makes me paranoid as it appears most people do have side effects for the first three days so maybe I am doing something wrong. I have been placed on a 5-0 plan under medical supervision. He told me that I could choose any MF meals I want as long as I only have 1 bar. So I am doing Oatmeal, Chicken Noodle Soup, 1 Shake, 1 Pudding and the ever so delicous brownie bar. I think I am going to switch it up next week and get another soup (and drop the pudding). But I guess my real concern right now is that everything I am reading talks about a 5-1 plan or 6-0 plan. If I had my calories I am only taking in 560 (not counting the few calories in the fat fee non dairy creamer). After reading the blogs it sounds like I should be concerned that my body will think it is starving and I won't be able to lose any weight.

It is really great to see everyone being so positive and inspirational. Admittingly I was thinking yesterday how am I going to eat the same things over and over again for 3-6 months. I am sensing it is pure will power and the want to be thin. I quit smoking 9 months ago so if I can do that....I have to be able to do this!

5-0 is not a typical use of the program, but if that is what your doctor recommended, then go for it. I do the 5-1 but the other typical program is the 6-0. As for day 3 being rough for people, I was one of the ones who had no "side-effects" (no headaches, irritability, etc). It depends on a few things, but the fact that you are transitioning to the program semi-easily is a good thing.

I would check once again with your doctor on the 5-0 vs the 6-0 or 5-1 programs. Good luck and keep up the good work!

As bdg stated, if your Dr. says the full fast, then that is 6 meal replacements, not 5. The 5&1 is 5 replacements and a Lean and Green Meal.
I think some folks are getting confused about this as it is the second post regarding this in the past couple of days. If you are reading the FAQ's where it says a 6th shake if you need it, that is referring to the 5-1 plan, not full fast.
The "normal" full fast is 6 meal replacements.

I have to be careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God's business.

Thanks for the comments! I have a follow up appt on Friday for my first weigh in and will talk to him. I really want this to be successful. It is hard enough following through on this lifestyle change. Although I don't know...some of you are making this look very very easy!!! ;)

Welcome Pegann,

If your experience with MF is like mine has been, it is easy to stay compliant. After the initial few days, the hunger subsides quite a bit. You do your supplements on time, stay focused on your goal and just go day by day. Not deviating from the program will give you pride and seeing the scale inch down is very inspiring.

Don't be discouraged if the scale seems to get stuck at some point, just keep yourself focused on staying compliant and allow the program to work.

Best wishes for a successful MF journey!

It really does get easier...I'm a little worried about your 5-0 plan!
Most of us do the 5 & 1 and it seems that most lose just as fast on that as the full fast (6-0) And of course, it is so much easier!
Just want you to have all you are supposed to have.
Hope your doctor will clear it up for you.
You will do fine. Just learn all you can from your Quick Start Guide and come along with us...

Hi Pegann!

I just started too!

I plan to lose about 55 pounds. I'm on my second day now. I had headaches at the end of the day of Day 1, but today I feel great! How are you doing now?

Also, great questions about how many shakes, etc. I was wondering the same thing.

Good luck :)

Hey Frankiej! Great for you too on your new start...everyday is getting a bit easier..I am finding a little humor in it..today my adventure and excitement was finding that there is a jello that is 0 carbs 0 fat 0 sugar..how fab is that? The little things I appreciate. I am feeling much much better. Not quite as blah. The only thing on my mind now is making it to the end!

Thanks to everyone else for their warm wishes...what group!!

Hey Pegann!

Thanks for the warm welcome - it IS getting easier each day! I'm on day 4 now and my pants are a little bit looser - or I should say they are a little less tight ;)

I'm having oatmeal - seems a little salty? Maybe my tastebuds will adjust to it.

Have a great day,
FrankieJ
