Day 3 and feeling WEAK

Postby Daydreaming~N~VA » January 21st, 2006, 3:14 pm

I need some advise...

I love the soups...but I am not big on Sweet flavors.

I cannot handle the shakes...it makes me want to grab a bag of chips afterwards, to get the sweet taste out of my mouth...

Any Ideas on how to cut the sweetness? Can we use milk??

I am hanging there!!

sweet taste

Postby guest » January 21st, 2006, 5:01 pm

Hi daydreaming,

The sweet taste bothered me in the beginning for quite a while too. Also, whenever I have certain foods like the soups that I spice up quite a bit, I end up wanted either more spicy (i think of salty/crunchy ie. nachos) and then dessert other than what MF allows  (which is weird, 'cause the sweet thing had been bothering me)

Anyhow, I noticed if I waited about 15-30 minutes, went and did something else, the craving usually went away.

Also, brushing my teeth and then sipping on a large glass of water (about 32 oz. ) for about 20 min. or so usually got rid of those cravings.

I also chew lots of gum and drink splenda/diet free sodas, both of which I never did before MF, but hey, they help.

Hope these things help.

:x i am sort of angry with myself!!!

I even tried to talk myself out of it...

Pizza...it got to me today.

3 pieces...got to me.

I am such a loser!

I did it to myself and I will not stop this diet...I know that there will be days that I take one step backwards...

but...i think i did it to myself. I started obsessing on how good it would be to have the pizza in the fridge...and well...it was..but now...i wish that I had not.

please tell me that I am not the only one to cave in and cheat 3 days into it!!!

Get back on the horse and ride on !!! You can do it !

You caved in during a moment of weakness, get motivated and do what you know that you want to.

Ahh yes ... I recall day 3 well. I have a confession to make. Don't tell anyone. On my day 3, I went to PF Chang's for lo mein and honey shrimp. Its one of my favorite restaurants and I had intended to get that in before I started the plan but didn't fit my schedule until day 3. That's my excuse anyway. At any rate, I went right back on the plan for my next shake and never looked back! I haven't had an all out deviation from the program since then and I don't dare risk it again now that I've seen how great this works. Just jump back on the program and mentally prepare yourself for dealing with temptation ... you're worth all the benefits it will bring!!

Don't be too hard on yourself. At least you now know that pizza is a major weakness of your's and that you should avoid having it around. Use this as a learning experience to empower you. Do not let it define you.

Nancy said something the other day. It really hit home for me, and maybe it can provide you with the inspiration you need as you climb back up on the horse and continue with your journey.
Do not go thru days 1-3 AGAIN. Do it right, do it right now.

Days 2 - 4 were the roughest for me. Today is day 7 and I know I am on the road to success. You can do it too. If you fall down, we will pick you up. Just don't give up!

As for the original question, you sound like me when I started. Everything tasted much too sweet to me. I haven't had a shake (from the mix, anyway) since my second week. I mostly stuck with the soups and chili, and a couple of the bars (the fruit and nut one tastes less sweet to me, as does the lemon; I avoid the chocolate peanut butter like the plague).

Then I found the oatmeal "cookies," in which you can add more or less Splenda according to taste. Then I tried the RTD shakes, and found the chocolate one was more to my liking than the dry kind, so I added that. After that, I started to like the cocoa. And just this week I decided to give the pudding another try, and it tasted much better to me now (this is several months in). I still won't drink the shake mixes, though.

My advice: Stick with the soups in the beginning, and retry a few products later on as your tastes change.

Robin and all of you...thank you so much for everything!!

I do have a question...

I thought that you HAVE to have the shakes in order to lose the weight.

I had the oatmeal for breakfast this morning and I will keep it in my plan...

It is NOT too sweet for me. and it is quite filling in the morning.

as for the shakes, i am trying to get rid of them...so if anyone wants to trade letme know... I did post in the swap board.

Hug!!
