My husband is a lacto-ovo vegetarian so his options are rather limited since his co-workers seem to think salad and other vegetables are curiosities and meat rules! He usually just munches off the cheese platter.

back finally~

Postby casma500 » December 27th, 2006, 12:13 pm

wow! had no idea it had been so long since i posted! i know i have not been very good at all about keeping to the diet, so i just went off altogether. Life got so busy & crazy all of a sudden. Then I got sick... ugh!

Back on today and the hunger pangs are driving me batty ~ i will definitely be having an extra meal today to get through this. Cannot wait for ketosis to be back ~ :) Also, need to get back into bagging up my meals for the week. Will do that this Sunday. Saturday - have to go look at buying a new car... ugh!!!! so i will be sure and have some meals with me there -- it usually takes so long and is sooooo stressful!

Today:

7-hot cocoa
9:30-choc bar
12-chicken noodle soup
2:30-chili
5-hot cocoa
7-l&g (chicken breat & italian green beans)
9:30-hot cocoa or pudding

That's good planning and welcome back! I missed you. I like planning ahead and take a supplement in my purse when I go up the street to shop because I never know what might hold me up or when hunger may strike!

Thanks guys. I feel a little shaky and anxious today, but other than that I feel fine. So far so good for today. I'm trying to plan my L and G for tonight. I'm also going to weigh in tomorrow as all these trips to the throne are sure to have some effect on the scale.

Hi Casma,

I am a newbie...so just wanted to say hi. I know how you are feeling with the adjusting for ketosis. I am ready for it to kick in myself. I bag my meals as well.Much easier and I dont have to think I just grab and go.
How did car shopping go? Hopefully it wasnt too frustrating...
Nice to meet you and hope to talk with you soon.... Debra

wow! lots of responses...

biki -- i missed you too! i am trying to catch up with everone, but after having been away so long, most of it will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon when they let us go home early -- saw your leopardization of DeDe and mike & diana (& allt he others!) you are too much!! i love it!! thanks for sticking with this forum! I learned the bad lesson of not being prepared last sunday at church, when I forgot my bar (i now have 2 in my purse!) and ended up eating the "goodies" (breads and cookies...).

dede -- i missed everyone! it is just way to easy to not get on the forum when life is busy, but i am making it a point to do each and every night (plus at lunch time every other week, when i relieve our receptionist). hope your poopies are doing good! Sounds like you are doing great still, even during the holidays -- you totally rock! i will be catching up on your journal as well ~

jl -- i know what you mean -- the hunger pangs are terrible when you get so spoiled by not having any while in ketosis! this is day 2 for me, so it will probably continue until tomorrow. i just keep drinking my water... and eating my bar as sloooowlllly as possible. i am already down 4 lbs from yesterday morning's weight and expect to be right back where i was pre-cheating, by Sunday roll call.

taan/deb -- welcome!!! as noted above, i am very far behind in everyone's journals, but will get to yours this weekend and read your story! this is really an awesome, easy program! and i am totally anal, so the bagging thing is PERFECT for me! i love organizing and "preparing" what day is this for you?

did not go car shopping yet... i am really dreading it ~ i will be going day after tomorrow. tomorrow i have to get a duplicate title made so i will have that ready, should i need it.

today's menu~

7-hot cocoa (bless those specials!)
9:30-caramel bar
12:15 - cappucino
3:15 - soup du jour -- chicken noodle
6:15 - shrimp (sauted with olive oil pam & blackening seasoning) & salad & tomatoes with "naturally fresh" ranch
9:15 - chocolate pudding ~ to help with that sweet craving

was up .5 lbs this morning, so must have been too much salt in my food last night or it may have been the lack of sleep ~ I am not worried, just ready for ketosis today (i even DREAMT about cheating with freakin' hash browns - what is up with THAT???)! Geez... but apparently the ketosis fairy did hit me during the night because i am just not hungry in the least today ~ YAY!!!! and the oatmeal tasted better ~. Rainy gloomy weather here today, but I am getting off at 2pm, going to the bank, to the pharmacy and then home to chill and catch up on my sleep before tomorrow. Need to go get groceries tomorrow -- will be having eggs tonight as I just do not have anything else. Not sure what veggie I have that i can mix with them (may do the zuchinni pie thing with spinach and shrooms if I have some). :)

Today's Menu ~

7-hot cocoa
9:45-choco bar
12:30-peach oatmeal
3:30-hot cocoa
6-[real] eggs w/spinach & mushrooms
8:30 (so i can get to bed) ~ chocolate pudding w/rasp crystal light

i have a new year's eve party at my church that i need to bring some finger foods for and want to have what i can eat -- veggie tray will be part, and was thinking of deviled eggs -- will start a thread in the lean cuisine area for ideas ~

So what did you end up bringing, Mary? (And I saw somewhere else that you got your car. Congrats! I'll have to see it when we get together next time.)

hey Robin ~ ended up taking veggie tray & deviled eggs made with that low fat ranch, pickles & mustard instead of mayo - it was delish, and everyone else liked them too. so i was good then... BUT ended up catching the flu and was in bed for 4 days - no fun. when i finally started eating tried to eat the mf food, and was in the bathroom again... so stuck to campbells chicken noodle & saltines, which has my weight back up 3 more lbs.! i was not a happy camper, to say the least. am back on plan though, today and seem to be okay. i am still not hungry - have not been, actually ever since the ketosis finally kicked in before new years. so that is kind of nice. hoping to get back into a normal routine. glad i rarely get sick ~ yuk!

today's menu ~
7-hot cocoa
10-lemon bar
12:30-chicken noodle w/mf crackers
3:30-hot cocoa
6-talapia & green beans
9-chocolate pudding w/lemon crystal light

have bible study tonight, but have to relieve the receptionist all day tomorrow & wed so should be able to catchu up with everyone.

thanks chica!! missed you and your little jokes too (said in the wizard of oz evil witch voice) lol (guess you can tell i am still on meds, huh?)

hope all is well with you - will be trying to catch up with everyone's journals & progress tonight. thought i could at receptionist desk, but no such luck! a busy day (very unusual). feeling a little better today, but still very weak and chest/breathing hurts. i am eating, but i am having to really force everything down right now, except for the water. i must have gotten very dehydrated while sick between just not keeping stuff down, and then eating the salty soup. so i am making up for it now. i usually have 6-10 16 ozers throughout the day, but already am on #7, so guess my body is ready to start getting back. altho i had a rough time sleeping last night... will be taking some melatonin tonight for sure

today's menu ~

7am-hot cocoa
10-fruit & nut bar
12:45 - peach oatmeal
3:45-cranberry mango (i LOVE that stuff mixed with RC tangerine soda!)
6:30-turkey breast and spinach w/vinegar
9:30-chocolate pudding or cocoa, depending on how cold it is

i just LOVE seeing all the journal updates after the new year, and hope they continue! hope i can catch up tonight.

I was going to say, the weight gain is probably mostly salt since you weren't eating much anyway. And it's supposed to be freezing tonight, so I'm guessing you'll go with cocoa!

Medifast has taken so long to get me my pudding that I've taken to having oatmeal at night, especially when it's cold out.

Ha. Yeah, I am, actually. I'm supposed to go to that Egyptian exhibit with him at the Kimbell during the day Saturday, and then to dinner and a movie with a friend that night (because I absolutely refuse to cancel plans with a friend for a date with some guy - unless it was for the skills thing, but that would be more for the event than for him). I'm hoping my pudding arrives tomorrow, though (then again, I'm enjoying the oatmeal again, and I just discovered sugar-free Jell-O pudding in dulce de leche; holy COW, that stuff is good). Medifast needs to come out with dulce de leche, too. Sigh.
