Wow! Glad to have the forum back and am actually kind of grateful the weekend posts are gone ~ i got a little psycho about the food ~ Amber was right -- some things just get HUGE while MFing... LOL :) But all is good now and I have been taken care of ~ whew! thanx unca & leopardess queen!

This week hasn't been so good... weighed in yesterday and I had lost nothing; then today, about 1/2 hour after i considered cheating (because i will probably cheat next week), a coworker told me our cholesterol levels were in and did i check mine? (we gave blood monday and they will do a free chol. test for you). I went on line and it was 142!!!!! I give blood often, so I had about 10 tests in there, and the closest one to that was 174!!! How cool is THAT??? This MF is the BEST! So I'm good for another day ~

On another note I did start "exercising" this week and using the pedometer again and aiming for an average of 10K steps per day; went over that. steps are below. i also added an MF snack to my day (crackers or soy crisps) but MAN there are a lot of carbs in them! i will be calling nancy about something tomorrow and will ask her how many carb grams we are supposed to have in a day. i am wondering if adding that and walking more every day is the reason behind no weight loss so far this week.

HOpefully I will at least lose some inches this week ~

That's great about the cholesterol. As for carbs, you're not supposed to have to worry about it unless you're having trouble losing (not losing anything for a day or two doesn't qualify). If you run into real trouble, the nurse has suggested keeping carbs to 85 grams or less. But it really doesn't sound like you have to worry about that at this point. If you just stick to the program, your losses will start up again.

Thanks Robin! Was worried as the snacks are appx 15 extra carb grams.

My steps for each day
M 10,955
T 12,564
W 12,530
Th 9,435
F 8,174 as of 7pm

AVG == 10,931 per day

Still no weight loss as of this morning, so I am drinking drinking drinking more water... And I will be doing my weigh in tomorrow as SUnday I will be out of town, so hopefully the water will work :)

How long have you been on the program? A brief stall (usually a week or so) is common after three or four weeks on the program. Prevailing wisdom is your body needs to catch up a bit to all the changes. If you don't see anything tomorrow, stick with the plan and next week you'll probably be rewarded with a nice loss.

Yes, this is the end of week 4 ~ so I guess that is normal, then. Ahhhh, I knew I would fall off my pink cloud! LOL ~ next week will be REALLY REALLY hard to stick to th eplan though, due to thanksgiving, both at work AND at home... i will try (and i am planning on staying on plan other than Tues (work meal) and Thur (maybe I will just do tue thru thur) and get right back on, as I am afraid if i stay off too long, my body will be thrown off ~

It can be done. It's not fun, but I did it last year. I just had turkey and veggies for Thanksgiving, and then a pudding a couple of hours later for dessert.

Just remember, all those goodies aren't going anywhere. The world will still have pie and mashed potatoes and stuffing and whatever next year and the year after that.

Even this year, I'm not going crazy. We're having Thanksgiving dinner at work Wednesday, but I'm going to skip it and just bring my own food as usual. I'd rather indulge Thursday (and even then, I'm guessing it won't be that bad because I get way too full too fast these days).

Well, Robin, I wish I had listened to your post... I think the biggest peer preessure was at work on Tuesday, which I totally gave in to ~ I was hoping stuff would not taste so good, but one our attorneys truly made the BEST apple pie i have ever had, and i am not even a fan of it! His was truly awesome. But it was NOT worth the weight, because it started off a 6-day off plan cheat! And I weighed in Thursday and had gained 6 pounds, so I never weighed in again.

Monday, though, due to all the incredibly inspiring posts in the forum and the weight I had already lost, I got right back on plan! But since I have to get back into ketosis, I am not exercising, other than my normal walking, and I am not eating the MF snacks the first week. I will incorporate them into my plan next week. I also will start using my pedometer again and be sure I do my 10K per day next week, and then continue to increase it 500 steps per day, per week.

This morning I weighed in, and had already lost 5 of the pounds I gained! So much of it must have been water weight from sodium. So, i am TOTALLY PSYCHED OUT about getting back on plan, and back into the groove!

That's great, Mary. It's hard to get back on track, which is a good reason not to go off track in the first place. But it happens to most of us. The key is getting back on the program instead of getting frustrated and giving up. A lot of the initial gain WILL be just sodium and water weight from the extra carbs (you know how you drop a ton of water when you first go into ketosis? you frequently gain it back when you fall OUT of ketosis).

Sounds like you're doing great, though. Slips happen to nearly all of us. The important thing is to learn from it. Figure out why you slipped, and what you could have done differently (whether it's how to avoid the pie completely or just how to limit the slip to that one thing and get back on program sooner).

Thanks Robin! I think the biggest thing for me is actually just that it is Thanksgiving & Christmas. Those are "food" times for me as I have no family here so my friends are my family (hmmm.. think emotions may be part of all that??) LOL, and that is part of our get together at that time. So in my head, justifying eating bad twice a year doesn't seem so bad, which is the only reason i think i really gave in. I was really good at halloween with all the crap around, because that is not a "family/friends" holiday for me. NOT that that is a good reason (i should always eat good, but alas, am human). But that is some good stuff to think about for the next holiday hurdle for me... have to work on that. i eat my MF around my friends (same friends) at non-holiday times and don't have a problem... definitely food for though (pardon the pun!)

Well, I weighed in today, and am back down to 232.5, so just 1.5 pounds off weight I was before T-week. I hope to have that gone by tomorrow, and then, from there, lose even more for the week! I have noticed the hunger pangs today as we are having training all week on a new system AND i relieve the receptionist when she is there, and when she is at lunch, or I am in the class. So my times are just having to adjust by 15-30 minutes for meals. Sometimes i have to eat early, sometimes late.

But I really believe not having my MF snack is helping me tremendously as well. I am afraid once I began exercising again, I am not going to want to incorporate that into my meals, and I probably really need to. Can someone kick my butt about that?? Do I really have to include one? I didn't the first 3 weeks I was on the program as I didn't order any, and I did fine.

You don't need the snack. If you start exercising and stop losing, I'd actually suggest trying an extra shake or something rather than a snack. The snacks don't have the same protein:carb ratio, so personally I think you'd be better off with a shake or a soup than, say, a packet of the crackers.

But I wouldn't change anything unless you run into trouble.

And I understand about the holidays. The other way to handle it is to see it as training for maintenance. Plan ahead, indulge in a smart way (don't go crazy) and then go right back on plan.

wow! i woke up this morning and had gained 2 pounds!!! how is that possible? i stayed compliant, but did walk more than usual (had to walk appx 1 mile to get my dart pass). very strange! not sure what is going on there, but hoping it will change by Sunday :)

weather here is icy and supposed to be getting up to 3" snow. to some, that doesn't sound like much, but here in dallas we just don't get this often enough to know what the heck to do (no equipment, etc.). So I will probably only be working 1/2 day :)

but this cold weather definitely made me change out some of my meals for today -- had my normal cappucino this morning, then my bar, but instead of a hot shake, i changed out to 2 soups for this afternoon, plus hot cocoa for tonight instead of pudding. Think i will also be adding some salsa to my leftover turkey tonight to get some heat from that as well ~ lol

My weight was up from 226.5 to 227 to 228 with TOTAL compliance. No pickles, no add ins, no celery nada! My lean and green was less than 1 cup of lofat cottage cheese, 10 calorie salad dressing and 2 cups of salad. I have been walking 1.5 to 2 miles a day and added some yoga. Maybe we are doing too much. I had my ravioli ordeal last night and my weight stayed at 228 thankfully. Maybe in order for our muscles to heal they retain fluid-I don't know-but I am just trying to trust the process right now.

Casma, aside from our scale ordeals, I wanted to let you know that I am originally from Dallas. I moved away a little over 4 years ago. Go COWBOYS!

I'm with you, I was raised in California and spent most of my life there, but now I wouldn't move back for just about anything. I love it out here!

And the snow/ice is something, isn't it? Nothing like what we had when I lived in Denver, but still. Luckily, we got the option of working in our Arlington newsroom tonight, so I won't be driving to and from downtown FW with all the icy overpasses. I was so happy to hear it that I even baked brownies to bring in, since I usually only talk to these guys over the phone.
