Thanks for the advice on the exercise! I was doing the opposite - cardio first, then weights. I'm gonna switch it up! Makes total sense!

And thanks for the airline info! I'm gonna check them out tonight.

Weigh in today: 198.9!!! Yah, that's right! Kicked that 200lbs barrier in the bootay! WooHoo!!! Bye 200's!!!! <doin' the endzone dance>

Ok, gotta take a shower and get ready for work. Have a great holiday weekend, ya'll!

Ummmm ... the optimum order for training (cardio or weights first, if doing them in the same session) is still very much under debate.

Thanks for the extra info, DogMa! I'm hoping to get into a routine of doing cardio in the a.m., and interval training in the afternoon (a mix of weights, exercise and cardio). The trainer sets up a routine for me that makes it easy to follow. :D

Weigh in: 196.8! WooHoo! I made the goal of being under 200 by this Monday! Yay!! Next big hurdle: 175. I've made it before, but never farther than 170 before regaining. But that's a ways away yet.

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! DH (Troy) and I met friends Mike & Lorelei and our friend Melissa Sunday evening at Trudy's, a fun Mexican restaurant that's an Austin tradition. We were actually supposed to meet for a movie first, but that got botched, and I'm glad it did! I had more fun just visiting and catching up!

Monday Troy, Melissa and I left early and picked up some breakfast burritos and tamales (for them) on the way to a state park near our place called Hamilton Pool. It's a beautiful natural pool along the river. They only let 75 cars in at a time - and we were car #74! How lucky were we?! It was our first time there, and we didn't realize that after parking, it's a 1/4 mile hike to the natural pool (or grotto). So I ended up getting in a 1/2 mile hike overall! :) Fortunately, we only brought a small cooler and some floaties. It was a beautiful hike and the pool is absolutely gorgeous.

We ended up floating for over four hours - much longer than we realized! It was so relaxing. We all ended up with a little too much sun. After that we headed home to shower and eat dinner before heading into Austin to hear some live music at the Saxon Pub. Even Troy went, and he's not usually a live music kind of guy (he gets bored sitting still and doesn't really like crowds). We got there early and Melissa kicked my booty at a game of Phase 10, followed by another booty kicking in dominos. That girl is freaky good at games. Matt the Electrician played, followed by Bob Schneider. Both shows were fantastic! Even Troy had a great time!

Today I didn't make it up early to hit the treadmill. I have my last follow-up appt with the plastic surgeon this afternoon. Fortunately the doc I work for is closing early today, so it worked out perfectly. After that, I'm headed for the gym.

I had a follow-up appt with the plastic surgeon yesterday, and he said everything looks 'exceptional'! :D Yay! My scars are already very thin. They're still pink but are fading. He said I came out with a really good shape, too. I asked him about starting back with weights this week, and he said to go ahead, but just be sure to listen to my body. He also said that the more chest exercises I do, the better and better the boobies will look!

Made it to the gym last night and did a full interval exercise routine. I was surprised at how many folks said Hi! I always smile and say hi to folks at the gym, but I never really stopped and chatted with anyone. I'm pretty chatty anywhere I go - DH says I've never met a stranger and I can start up a convo with anyone, anywhere. I'm pretty sure I get it from my preacher Dad. But I've always been a little shy at the gym, feel kinda like the "fat chick" that they know will wuss out and fade away at some point. But several folks stopped and said hi and asked where I'd been. It was nice to be missed! :D

My trainer came in towards the end and we started about chatting about where to go since the surgery. She showed me a few light chest exercises to start with. Aargh, I didn't realize how fast you lose it when not using it! I was worn out after but really feel fantastic and I'm so happy to be back on track!

I got up early today and hit the treadmill for 30 min. I think I'll head home tonight (a little sore from yesterday's workout) but I'll be back at the gym Friday.

It's definitely hard coming back after some time off, but you DO progress more quickly usually, so it won't be like you're starting over. (I keep telling myself now that it's been almost two months since I've been able to do almost anything involving arms, chest or back because of my rotator cuff problem.)

Well, I didn't make it to the treadmill this morning. :( I needed to wash my hair this morning, make it to the gas station and to the bank - all before work - and I just couldn't fit it all in. Also, I've had a few nights in the past week where I haven't slept very well, and last night I really tossed and turned even tho we went to bed at a good hour.

Another goal I've set for myself (along with getting up early to do 30 min cardio before work) is to go to bed earlier. I've read from several different sources that naturally thin women sleep on an average of 2 hrs more per week - about 20 min. more per night. It lets their body produce more of the hunger supressing hormones and happy hormones. I know my outlook is much more positive and I'm a much happier person when I get plenty of sleep. I've been running on about 5hrs a night for several years now, and I've come to see it as a self-defeating habit. So I'm working my way up to 8hrs a night. Also, it makes it a lot easier to get up and exercise before work if I get to bed early the night before (go figure). :D

I think the restless nights might be from the Momentum drinks. If I'm planning to go to the gym after work, I'll sometimes drink one as late as 4pm. I think from now on 2pm will be my cut-off for those.

Listening to a podcast today the host was talking about how folks on a diet always see themselves in a state of deprivation. She suggested looking at it this way: consider what eating what I want deprives me of - a body I fell comfortable in, buying clothes I wish I could wear, health, energy, etc. By choosing not to eat the Reeses, I'm actually getting what I really want! :D

Something else to make sure we all have in mind is WHY we want what we really want. If we want to be thin for the sake of being thin (to fit into the "world's" view of beautiful) then we are doing it for the wrong reason. My goal has been to "get healthy" the side effect of getting healthy will be losing weight. Figure out the "why" and the "how" gets a little easier.

Hellooooo!

I'm here! I haven't fallen off the wagon! Still stickin' with the plan, 100%. Despite that, I'm back in another plateau, bah. :( But, the last time I started exercising, the plateau lasted about a month, and I even gained two pounds at first. Today I'm 198.0, so I'm pretty much holding ground. I know if I just wait it out, I'll start heading in the right direction again!

I think I just lost motivation a bit. Last week I worked out almost every day, blogged, and logged all meals. Since the weekend, I've been a slacker! Minimal to no exercising, no blogging and no logging. I don't know why ... maybe it's the plateau, or maybe my energy's not back 100%. I still find myself going to bed really early.

I feel good, though, and no plan slip-ups! I think the motivation will come back as my energy goes up. And I think I'm going to start making myself push through the apathy and get up early. If I at least walk on the treadmill 30 min in the a.m., I won't feel so bad if I miss some exercise on the way home.

I listened to a great podcast from Inside Out Weight Loss on plateaus yesterday. First she defined a plateau as the ability to maintain a weight that is less that the starting weight. Now that doesn't sound so negative! We fear plateaus because: 1. We want to weight even less and we fear that we'll never get there and 2. We feel frustration at the lack of results for our efforts. So true! She recommends first celebrating our bodies where we are now, and appreciating that our efforts have gotten this far. Secondly, we can learn from the plateau - address situations that tempt us to cheat, adapt our intake and our output (exercise). She also notes that our bodies use plateaus as an opportunity to adjust on the way to the next big change, and we can use it as an opportunity to practice maintaining a lower weight. I just love the way she has of re-defining something I've always seen as a very negative state!

Sorry - weight is 196.0, not 198.0. So I've lost 0.6lbs in the past week, which isn't too bad. :D

I'm finally climbing back on the workout wagon, too, after just giving in for a few days and taking some time off. My running's still not where it should be, but at least I'm getting in some good walks. Every day this week except today (decided I needed ONE day off).

Maybe it's the end of summer that's messing with us.

And hey, I'm just barely ahead of you. Down 0.8 for the week (although I have two more days before I weigh in, not that two days usually makes much difference for me). I'm just glad to be back at my goal, and losing again so I can drop down below it.

Awesome, Robin! I love watching your journey. You're my hero! :)

Hurricane Ike has been keepin' us on our toes. Looks like it'll miss Austin altogether, but you wouldn't have known it by the grocery stores! They are wiped clean of eggs, milk, water, etc. Even the gas stations ran out of gas! And in the end, we didn't even get any rain.

My folks live down in that area and had to evacuate. Mom came up to Austin last Thursday and has been staying with my brother and his fiancee. Dad stayed in the Houston area to be close to the folks from his church and so he could visit the hospitals. Their town was evacuated, but Dad stayed with friends in a safe zone outside of Houston. They still can't go home - downed power lines, no electricity and wind damage are keeping the roads closed. They're hoping to get in touch with friends who decided to ride out the storm in town soon to find out if there's been damage. The storm ended up turning east of their town, though, so although there's damage there shouldn't be flooding.

To keep Mom distracted we had a "hurricane" party at my brother's yesterday. We made hurricane mixed drinks and watched chick flicks all day. :) (I had strawberry lemonade whupazz, don't worry.) They decided to have friend chicken for lunch. I brought a bag of salad, so I took one chicken breast, removed the skin and pulled off chunks of chicken and added it to my salad. I've always LOVED fried chicken. It tasted great, but for some reason for hours afterwards I felt really blech! It's probably just mental, but I felt yucky and sluggish, like I could feel cholesterol oozing thru my veins. I don't think I'll do fried chicken again for a long time.

I keep forgetting to weigh. This weekend has really flown by for me with the part-time night job and keeping Mom entertained. I did get on the treadmill for 30 min today - Yay, me! :)
