Hi Susan,
Sorry to hear about your prob. "Keto Breath" is not uncommon with low carb diets. About all i've heard to deal with it is breath mints, frequent brushing (including tongue), and mouth wash. Just be careful with anything containing sorbitol. Its been known to cause stomach upset with some people.

Also, are you sure it's noticeable to others. Sometime dry mouth can seem offensive to you, but is not noticeable to others.

Have you mentioned this to your doc yet?

Keep us posted,

Bad Breath...or NO breath?

Postby Nancy » January 8th, 2004, 1:37 pm

Susan,

Yeah, breath that can knock a buzzard off an outhouse at fifty paces IS a side effect of ketosis. BUT..the alternative (FLAB or death) is worse, IMO! Use a tongue scraper, drink LOTS of water...remember, this will improve when you reach your goal and begin transisition!

Sor-ree...what's worse? Flab and sweet smellin' or healthier, thinner and temporarily stinky?

It's one of those ‘either or situations’~ what’s worse? Bad breath or NO BREATH?
Nothing tastes as good as thin feels...
