An apple a day

Postby PippiLongstocking » November 7th, 2007, 6:31 am

I am really missing my apple a day, I feel like I need one, not just want one,
thoughts?
they have about 21 g. of carbs, about the same as a MF snack bar.

Not recommended, sorry. Try some sour apple sugar free gum or some cinnamin apple MF oatmeal, or some fruit flavored tea.

I know its prolly not what you want to hear but I wouldn't do it....if you justify the apple (which is off plan) and get away with it (still lose) then what would you justfy next? It can be a vicious cycle.

How long have you been Medifasting? Perhaps you need more time for your body to adjust and break old habits.

Good luck staying on program!

It's purely a want, too. No one NEEDS an apple. It doesn't have anything you're not already getting.

Our bodies do need fresh things, live food.

If you're on the 5-and-1 program, you're eating fresh vegetables every day. If you're on the full program, then no, actually, you don't need fresh food.

But hey, eat what you want. Just don't add apples and say you're on Medifast. Or expect it to work the same way. I don't want to be harsh, but you're either on the program or you're not.

The science behind the program is solid. No fruit, other than the fruit that is in the products. There are apple pieces in the oatmeals, and some bars.

As others stated, when you start justifying things off plan, then you aren't following the program, and your results will stop or slow dramatically. These are the kinds of things that HA's are taught, and use to help their folks with.

I would just remember, you have a goal and once you are there, you will get to have those things when you reach your goal.
It all comes back to "what do you truly want?"

Okay, okay, I didn't eat the apple and thanks to everyone for getting me through the urge...
I am on the plan, I'm doing it.
but dogma made me realize that I'm not eating the fresh veggie on the 5 and 1, I've been kind of sticking to lettuce only and I need to make more of an effort with that. Thanks all, I'm in, don't kick me when I'm down.

It's not that we are kicking you when you are down pippi, picture it as us lifting you up by the collar and shaking a little bit of reality into you. It's all done outta love and support! Take it in stride and keep with the program. We (including you) all know it works!

I justified a few things, and have been struggling ever since. It has been two weeks almost since the hot dog incident. I am on vacation, and it has been tough. I will never justify or go off plan again! I decided to go with 4 and 2 on vacation, and I have been doing well. I cannot wait to get back home and back to 5 and 1. I have to order some food shortly. That is why I did 4 and 2 because I did not have enough and needed to get through vacation.

That being said, I am gonna level with ya. It is true-there is no compromising and there is no half way. Once you are off your off. It is so difficult to restart it is almost impossible. I wish I would have realized it.
I am worth it!!!!!

Good job to both of you. All those foods will be there when you're on maintenance (in moderation, of course).

And if it helps, my experience is a bit different from Biki's. After a year and a half without fruit, I find apples and strawberries and peaches, etc. taste that much better. It's well worth the wait!!

But definitely try to mix up those veggies. Lettuce isn't the most nutritious - or satisfying - thing in the world. You may crave fresh produce less if you have more of the allowed kind: green beans and broccoli and zucchini and whatever else.
