Anyone Tried Turbo Jam

Postby Texas Girl » June 28th, 2006, 5:55 am

I recently started TSFL and had to add exercise so I bought Tubo Jam. Being that I hated exercise I need something that was fun. I watched the infomercial about a 100 times, and I finally ordered.(Beach Body dot -com) I LOVE IT ! It has good music , it's just alot of fun. It comes with five wk outs. Learn & Burn, 20 min wk out, shape & sculpt, Cardio Party, and my most favorite AB JAM. This is a 20 min complete AB wk out. 10 min standing 10 on the floor. Ab Jam is so easy and the results I can't even explain. I feel it wking as I do it. Come on who ever heard of an AB wk out that u like ? Anyone else out there heard of this?

I was considering buying Turbo Jam. I've been watching a lot of those informercials for exercise programs lately. I think I'll get it now. It looks like a lot of fun.

Is the ab stuff crunch-type things? I'm in desperate need of ab work, but I can't do anything that has even the possibility of straining your neck or back. That usually eliminates most of the stuff done lying down.

I love Turbo Jam! It is fun and when the workout is finished, I always feel as if the time flew by! I got it through QVC -- they have it cheaper than the infomercial...

The ab work is not traditional ab work -- it's all done through the special moves -- they are a combo of dance/tae bo moves. I always feel as if I haven't really worked out, but the next day, I experience a little muscle fatigue, so I know I'm working muscles with these workouts.

Sigh. You guys had me so convinced, I went to check out prices and ended up at QVC (same price as on eBay, but shipping was a fourth the cost). But there's a waiting list or something. I signed up, but basically I MIGHT get it within 45 days - or I'll wait 45 days to find out I'm not getting it. Argh.

Guess it's a good thing I joined the Y today, too. I'll just keep doing what I've been doing for now, and see if this thing ever comes. Unless I can find it for the same price somewhere else.

OK, too weird. First, last night I fell asleep on the couch, and when I woke up, the Turbo Jam infomercial was on. Then today, I was talking to my cousin and mentioned it, and she said she'd been hearing a lot of really positive stuff about it, too, and wanted to order it.

So I went back online, found it for about the same price on eBay (still factory-sealed, but just the DVDs without the tape measure and cards), ordered it with Buy It Now and canceled the QVC order. So I should be getting it pretty soon. I'm going to try it out and report back to her.

It should work out so that if I really like it, it'll be right about the time that I'll need to move up in weights. In which case the plan will be to lift weights at the Y a couple of times a week and do cardio at home with TJ (so I won't have to buy any more weights for home).

Yay!! My DVDs came today, so even though I'd already been to the gym to work out, I did the intro TJ to try it. I don't know that it was so easy or FUN, exactly, but I DO know that I worked up a sweat doing it, and a couple of hours later, my abs were starting to ache. So it's definitely working what I wanted to work without straining my back or neck.

That alone is enough to make me do it again. I think I'll stay with the intro workout for a little longer before I move on to the others, though.

OK, today my back hurt a lot from the Turbo Jam DVD. And then I got my Tae Bo Abs DVD in the mail and decided to try it tonight.

I LOVE it. He's much easier to follow, at least for me, and I LOVE the way he talks to the viewer and explains things, and tells you how to modify stuff. I'm ready to do this one consistently - and my reward for doing it will be another tae bo dvd.

Robin, I think we have a new obsession in common. I'm stocking up on several exercise DVD's. The most interesting so far is the Hip Hop cardio....it's harder than it looks! It's so much fun to be able to move again after so many years of being a couch blob.

I'm fighting the urge to run out and get another Tae Bo workout. Which is a good thing. A friend just said she has one somewhere that she can lend me. So I'll hopefully get that one when I see her at work Sunday, and try it out before I go run out and buy any more. But I LOVE him. I did the whole workout last night, even though my back still hurts from Turbo Jam.

Now if I could just find the Alleve ...

Is Hip Hop Cardio easy to follow?

I used to work for the company that makes Turbo Jam. I had kept quiet because all of their programs look really easy on TV, but are a lot harder when you get them (for the most part), but when I say that, the person almost always comes back and says how easy it was.

Kudos on the Tae Bo. I tried one of the first Tae Bo videos and it went WAY too fast for me.

I also have a good collection of videos, and what do I do? I walk outside most days.

Robin,

My problem with the hip hop was that I felt like I should be able to follow along, but my legs didn't agree, lol. I'm still trying.

if you own a playstation, i suggest dance, dance, revolution!

it's hella fun and actually has a workout mode that will count calories burned. when i was dropping weight before mf, i used it a couple times a week. 8) it's fun to get your groove on-- and it helps with coordination.

lots of people hae begun using it as their main cardio routine-- but it's still very much a game.

I have DDR, actually. Got it for the cardio workout. But I get too frustrated by it because I just can't keep up.

Sigh. I just went looking online for the original Tae Bo instructional and basic video. Had trouble finding it on DVD, but I finally did, so I ordered it. Yay. And have a list of the ones I want after these, based on a review site I found.

I got up this morning just dying to do it again, but finally decided not to because my back still hurts so much from Turbo Jam. So I downed a bunch of Alleve and lifted weights instead. (And walking outside would be nice, but it's 105 degrees out lately. Plus the videos seem to give me more of a workout. I sure work up a sweat in a short period of time. And I really need the abs workouts, which I don't get from walking.:)

And just a little postscript ...

I wound up doing the workout when I got home from work last night. And And then today I went to two places that sell used DVDs to see if they had any others, and walked out with Billy Blanks' Boot Camp for Abs (similar, but the floor work is harder so I can't get through the whole thing) and Tae Bo Flex (looked fun, but I made the mistake of trying to do it AFTER doing the Boot Camp one and my regular lower-body weight training, and by then I was too wiped out to do more than a minute or two).
