Another Restart

Postby blondeangel7782 » June 25th, 2007, 5:26 am

Okay so here I am traveling the road of doom that I thought I never would have to again... I'm restarting today and I'm ready to roll, Bikipatra has been such and inspiration with her kind words and ways of making this program look fool proof and all to easy! Well with that being said I would like to ask if I'm allowed to have powdered creamer that has no sugar or carbs in it? Please help me out...

I look forward to responses soon :-)

I have never read anything about that, although it could me mentioned somewhere. I do know that the Quickstart quide says that we are allowed three cups of coffee a day and that we can use milk (I use half &half-1 tablespoon) in our coffee. It seems the powder would have fewer carbs than milk but don't know an exact answer for you. Thanks for all the kudos! It has been rough recently but thanks!

Oh, I almost forgot, thinking about my favorite beverage, to wish you a happy restart! You can do it!

Apparently I have been cheating this whole time drinking 2 tablespoons of half and half in 3 cups of coffee-not in each one-spread out. According to the condiment list we are allowed lofat or fat free milk. I doubt I will be giving up my half and half. It is around 39 calories a day and one carb and 3 grams of fat. I guess I am being non-compliant. below is the quote from the Quickstart guide. You are allowed two of these a day.

1 tablespoon of minced onion, lemon/lime juice,
yellow mustard, salsa, soy sauce, most fresh
herbs, low-fat or fat-free milk or soy milk

All right, I'm prepared to have rotten tomatoes hurled at me, but do people really measure out a tablespoon of lemon juice? I mean, I can see if you're using a half a cup of it or something it could be a problem - but I never measured my condiments after the first week, I just have what I need. Which granted has never been much for me, and in fact I usually have none at all - but my point is, I think if you're frugal with whatever creamer you use it should be fine. Just don't make your coffee like my sister does - coffee-flavored sugar milk.

Welcome back Angel.

You can do this, just stick to the program. As for the creamer, Biki already addressed it somewhat. Just be aware of what is in it. Basically, stick to the skim milk or half and half is my suggestion.

Actually, Di will tell you her story, but she got kicked out of ketosis once...and what she could only figure was the non-dairy creamer.
We all have different systems... some can handle more carbs or fat and while others can't.

I think the guidelines are based on the strict end of things.
If something works for you, then just know that.... if it doesn't, then know that.
