AMAZING Chicken Teriyaki Kabobs

Postby VTGirlie » May 20th, 2006, 4:36 pm

Hi guys!

Thought I'd pass on that we made incredible kabobs on the grill tonight. I marinaded chicken breast in the Maple Grove Farms SF Teriyaki. I did mine separately to keep it to 2 Tbsp but also used it for my family (they never knew the diff!) 8)

We put them on skewers with fresh Vidalia onions and grilled for a few mins. They were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! The onions were a great combo. That and some green beans and I'm a happy camper tonight! :D

;)

Sigh. Too bad they've discontinued the teriyaki sauce. I love it, and I only have a couple of bottles left.

Oh, but I just found a place online that had five bottles left in stock, so I snapped 'em up. After this, I guess I'm going to have to start making my own from that recipe posted here.

Manly McMuscles swears by the recipe that's posted. I'm going to try it when I run out of bottles. Or feel ambitious. I've really gotten out of the habit of cooking much lately.

The recipe that is posted is really good and easy to prepare. I can't find either the maple grove or the walden farms stuff around here so I have to improvise all the time. I really want some sf bbq sauce.

It's really good, but it doesn't taste anything like the Maple Groves version. That is good for me, because I don't like the Maple Groves brand :)

I have two bottles of that I purchased though (a VERY small amount has been taken out of one). I would be happy to send it along when you run out.

Interesting. You prefer the Carb Options sauce, Manly? I find that one too thick and sweet, so I'm wondering if the recipe isn't going to appeal to me as much. I may just have to experiment and come up with something on my own.

Yes, I like teriyaki sauce to be thick and sweet. The recipe on here is definitely sweet, but not very thick (I thicken mine with guar gum).

You could always play with the recipe to lessen the sweetness. Maybe use a 1/2 cup of splenda instead of a full cup.
