The Explosion!!!

Hi Everyone,
I'm posting this here -- so I know that eveyone will see it :? I was mixing my beloved scrambled eggs and thought that shaking them up in a shaker jar would be a terrific idea :mrgreen: However, I somehow put warm tap water in the jar, added the eggs and proceeded to shake. Hmmmm it took no time at all for them to EXPLODE :cry: Not only did I lose most of my wonderful eggs but I spent the next 20 minutes cleaning egg out of my kitchen. My gooooodness they went everywhere :mrgreen: All over the tile, on the kitchen window, in my hair and all over me!! I'm still finding egg here and there .... Plus egg is not the easiest thing to clean up. :cry: So ... don't mix the eggs with warm water and proceed to shake... they explode!! ( I think it's the hot water because if I remember correctly :mrgreen: I had a similar problem with the hot cocoa. Need I say I'm NOT a morning person... I think I move on "autopilot" for the first couple of hours :mrgreen:

The cappucino does the same thing, especially when mixed with coffee. Certain products aerate more than others and cause these explosions.

Reminds me of Di's story with the Brocolli soup volcano. She had heated the cream of brocolli in a sealed sport type bottle with a straw inside. When she opened the top, the soup started spouting out of the straw all over the floor.

Pfft... they sure do! Try making a shake with diet soda and you'll soon see. :-P

Wow thanks for the tip, just what I need exploding food.

By the way I read the best way to make the eggs is to cook in a nonstick skillet and add tobasco.

I add garlic, pepper and a Tbsp salsa and then make it as an omelette then top it with a little hot sauce (I use the Taco Bell brand hot).

So...you had an egg shampoo, eh?

You must have healthy shiny hair now, Jan!

I shake my eggs in my shaker jar all the time but I have my original shaker with the threaded lid rather than the snap-on lid. However, I use cool water. I also find that they are best if I shake/mix the eggs and allow about 10 minutes or so for the mixture to blend - the eggs seem 'gritty' at first so I let 'em sit for a while before I cook 'em.

I discovered that when I make them in the Magic Bullet, they are like a true omelet. I cook a mushroom or two in the Pam-sprayed skillet and add a snip or two of cilantro and then pour in the bulletized strangled egg mixture. Mike, I'm with you with the Taco Smell HOT sauce - oh, yeah!

Poor Jan – did you use one of those silicone spatulas to remove the eggy ceiling splatters?

I use my shaker and haven't had any incidents but I don't use hot water. Experience with a shake in a hotel bathroom is etched on my brain.

shaker disasters

Oh yeah, my car smelled like a real "family car" after I spilled some shake and it proceeded to bake inside the closed vehicle on a hot day. Oooof that first burst of smell when I opened the door after 8 hours...

Yep, I got cocoa all over my keyboard and desk (and chair and monitor and floor and clothes) at work one night when I got the brilliant idea to mix it with hot water instead of mixing first and heating after.

Seaside ~

E-e-e-ew! I know what you mean - the shakes smell SKANKY when they spill on the carpet. The carpet in Buzz, my :veedub: VeeDub Beetle Bug has been shampooed so many times it's practically nap-free! Icky-poo!

Dogma, were you able to get the Choc stains outta your clothing? My husband's keyboard has brown splatters on it and I have a stick of Spray n' Wash strapped to his left arm for those occasional random drips.

:scratchhead: Hmm..maybe we ought to include :bib: bibs in the starter kits, eh?

I thought I was the only goof up :eyecrazy: ....... I was cleaning chocolate shake off my white kitchen cabinets for days. I did not have the cover tight on the blender. :shock:

every time I turned around there was another splash of choco goo someplace... :roflmao:
