Shows that will RIP

Postby sidrah » June 21st, 2006, 12:41 am

I am writing a survey for summer school stats/coding lesson plan on TV viewing. I have TV on my mind!!

Here are some that I will miss. TGFR (THank God for Re-runs)-

Will and Grace-funniest show

Queer as Folk- not always haha funny, but great show. Stupid boring Sundays, now :(

Judging Amy and The Nanny- I curse Lifetime and TNT for hooking me on them again.

Que mas??

Threshhold and Invasion were my two new favorite shows and they were canceled. Alias is no longer. so sad.

Twin Peaks!!!! I heard season 2 is finally being released on dvd this year which is great and all, but I want more story!

I really liked that one short season of Kindred:The Embraced too.

Serenity. One of the smartest SF shows around, but it only lasted one season.

Seinfeld
Keen Eddy (came and went quickly...but I loved the show)
MacGuyver (Come on....everyone liked this show)

Soap (Billy Crystal playing a gay character in a sitcom)
Benson (Robert Guillaume was great!)
Sports Night (another show with Robert Guillaume - short lived but well written)
Benny Hill (Loved watching this show just to see if a piece of wardrobe would "mal-function")
Baa Baa Black Sheep (was a big WWII buff as a kid)
Dukes of Hazard (One word...Daisy oh yeah and comic relief...Cooter)
BJ and the Bear
The Monkees (in a Mike Myers voice...yeah baby!)
Batman (Pow...Kaboom)
Night Court (John Laroquette was great)
The Munsters (Fred Gwynn was a giant!)
Happy Days (Heyyyy - I had such a crush on Erin Moran)
Welcome Back Kotter (Mr Kottere' taught John Travolta)

All in the Family (A show ahead of it's time)

"Everwood" was just cancelled and I really liked it a lot!
I was a huge fan of Buffy and Angel, too, Lauraly! I missed out on Serenity. Joss Whedon is a GREAT writer, IMO.

And many already mentioned: All in the Family, Seinfeld, MASH, Ellen, and I like Hee-Haw cuz I play the banjo. Oh, I was so sad when Judging Amy was cancelled. I loved "Once and Again" with Sela Ward and Billy Campbell. Lots more, but "that'll do, Pig, that'll do".

I don't watch a lot of tv anymore, but my current FAVORITE is "MONK", very clever and well-written.....love it, love it....the new season starts on July 7th on USA Network. I like The 4400, too.

YES ..Mad about You! That was a cute show

You all cracked me up reading those...

Dukes of Hazard brought back a ton of memories.

Little House on the Prarie. One of the few shows that I am buying all the dvd's of for my daughter. She will prolly not even want to watch them ! lol

Seinfeld is greatly missed by me....in a word Kramer.

Will & Grace had the funniest writters on T.V. ~ My opinion of course ~

Oh, shows I miss desperately:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angel
Firefly
Wonderfalls
Oz
Dead Like Me

Oh, looks like Lauraly and I are twins!! I'm also a HUGE Joss Whedon fan. (Actually, one reason I started watching Lost and 24 were because David Fury works on them.)

ooooo yeah! I liked Dead Like Me, too. I stopped subscribing to Showtime last year, so I didn't know that one had been cancelled.

Here are some of my favorite shows that were cancelled prematurely. I'll avoid mentioning shows that ended on their own terms.

Carnivale (HBO never cancels anything...why did they have to choose to cancel my favorite show ever???)
Dead Like Me (I cancelled Showtime the moment they cancelled it. I like Weeds, but I'll download it so Showtime doesn't get my money)
Wonderfalls
Miracles
Arrested Development
Twin Peaks
American Gothic
Freaks and Geeks
The Job

I'm sure there are more, but these are at the top of my list.

Firefly (that's in an order, it's always #1. I will always be a browncoat!)
John Doe
Wonderfalls (do we see a Fox pattern here? Daing those reality shows)
Threshold
Space above and Beyond
Love Monkey (2 episodes, never gave it a chance!)
MI-5

All I can think of!

Oh, dede,
I don't know any of those. Man I gotta tune into Fox more.

I am going to watch that new show, Vanished, I think it is called.

Usually I watch FOX during American Idol and WIll adn Grace re-runs.

I also should haev added Oz and The Job to my list. I got the DVD of season 1 of The Job, so I can re-watch it. I watch Rescue Me in place. Same deal different place.
