Ok, I looked at every packet of taco seasoning at the supermarket and the least amount of carbs I could find was 3 for 2 tsp of seasoning. That seams like too many. What packets of seasoning are you guys & gals using?

Thanks.

I don't use a packet. I add chili powder, cumin, garlic, etc... Everything you'd find in a packet minus the sugar. I suppose you could add Splenda, but I never have...

Hey Losers-
 While on the Taco Subject, let us not forget that most deeelish of all tacos; those made of fish. Tilapia is perfect for them, rub with a little taco seasoning, throw it on the George, mmmmmmmmmmmmm, dinner!

I don't really think that sounds like too much...

If you like making your own taco seasoning, here's a recipe I've used for years. I don't know how many carbs there would be in 1/2 tsp cornstarch mixed into a 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef. Can't be too many. And there's no sugar or secret fillers that always add carbs.

2 tsp instant minced onion
1 tsp salt
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp crushed dried red pepper (more or less to taste)
1/2 tsp instant minced garlic
1/4 dried oregano
1/2 tsp ground cumin

Makes about 2 tbls. Can be stored for 6 months in a small foil packet or a snack sized zippy bag.

To make:

Brown 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Drain the fat. Add 1/2 c water and all the seasoning mix. Reduce heat and simmer stirring occaisionally. Makes enough for 8-10 tacos.

I was at Sam's Club today and noticed some taco seasoning that only had one gram of carbs. I am not a big taco fan, so I didn't buy any. I can't remember the name, but it was the only kind that I noticed there (in the spice section).
