Photoshop Elements - need help

Postby DonnaS » August 30th, 2007, 7:08 am

When I open up a picture in photoshop it is huge. I want to send a group of pictures to print (via computer) but I'm afraid they will not look right because of the size. Does anyone know if the pictures will actually turn out as normal 4x6 pictures when they are printed? I'm wondering if there is a setting on photoshop that I need to change so when I pull up a picture it shows up as a 4x6 and not 7x9 or even larger.

I hope I'm explaining this okay and any help would be greatly appreciated. And, yes, I have read the help and still can't figure it out.

Hi Donna,
If you're going to use the pics to print pictures, you want them as big as possible.
(high resolution)

That makes it a pain to send in an email sometimes, but if you compress the file to email, you'll lose quality in the actual printing.

The finished size of the print is determined by the printer settings, not the size of the file.

Hope that makes sense.....:)

I'd send the big files and whoever prints them can pick any size they want, but if you compress them the quality will suffer.

It's unclear whether you mean that you want to email the pictures, so if you're just talking about sending them to the printer, you choose the size of the finished product when you print.

Learn by trial and error.....sometimes the best way. :D

I want to e-mail the pictures to somewhere like CVS or Walmart to have them printed and pick them up later. Just wanted to make sure that I'm not going to end up with 4x6 pictures that don't print out correctly because of my photoshop program.

Thanks for the info!
