A friend has a timeshare there and invited me down for a week, so I am going to head there on the way home from Laughlin. We kinda know the area a little bit, but we were both working on dissertations and nerdily spent more time at our computers than sightseeing...in different rooms, no less, so we could both plug into the phone lines.

I know there are some restaurants and a foofy shopping mall. Palm Springs is about 10 minutes away and we were gonna hit a casino. Any other suggestions? I already know all about Club Fed Ex/Kinkos where we spend many nights grooving to the sound of the printer giving us researched articles. So. Much. Fun.

well, the movie theaters and bars in rancho mirage are a hot bed of marines that cruised down from 29 palms.

there are also casinos, if you are inclined to drop some nickles.
