Outback Steakhouse

Postby Sarya » May 8th, 2006, 8:52 am

One of my good friends got a job today, and I think we're going to go celebrate tonight. I'm leaning towards Outback because it should be fairly easy to stay on plan. It's a little daunting, but I think I can do it! I was thinking if I ordered a large outback special I could cut it in half and have the second piece for dinner tomorrow. Has anyone else tried this? If so how did it work out for you? I know I have to ask for the salad with no cheese or croutons, and save the steam broccoli to go with the other half of the steak but it should be on plan, right?

I ordered the small outback special, had a half salad, no croutons, dressing on the side (dipped fork in dressing then salad), and had the broccoli (about half of it) with unsweetened iced tea. No problems whatsoever. :)

That is one of our resteraunts of choice now... because it is easy to eat there, they are very accomadating, had them bring no bread, salad with no cheese or croutons, I got the 7oz filet and when cooked it was a little over 5oz, so I just ate all but a couple of bites, felt satisfied but not full like I used to feel...

Good luck, you will do great....

Make sure the "Bloomin' Onion" isn't on your side of the table...:)

Oh Unca!! I hope they don't try to order the bloomin onion or those crazy covered french fries. I might have to go hang out in the parking lot for 20 minutes :D

Hi Sarya,

I just wanted to say I LOVE your avatar picture. Silver Fox will be VERY happy when she gets back!

I go to outback ALL the time. Not only is it doable, most wait staff bends over backwards to make sure we get what we need. Outback is VERY flexible!

I also leave a few bites from the 7oz steak. If you order the BIG steak, you can put some in a to go box (right when it shows up on the table) and save it for later. I don't get enough veggies for 2 meals, but steak, yes!

Thanks DeDe :) Do you eat the salad and the veggies with your meal? I thought if I got the big steak then I could put half away, but maybe I should just get a small one and not have to worry about temptation :D

I went to Outback last week. But I wasnt on my best behavior. My family wanted a bloomin onion and I caved! But the rest of my choices were healthy. Good news, however, even tho I cheated, I was still down a lb the next day. I just made sure I went on a long walk when I got home.

I had too many vegetables but otherwise was ok! My salad was just way too tasty with salt, pepper, and lemon juice on it and I ate it all up. Then the broccoli was very very fresh... I didn't eat any of the bread even though it was brought to the table. I lost half of my afternoon cappucino because my boobs knocked it on to my keyboard  so I guess it could have been worse. I was absolutely starving by the time I got to the restaurant.

Man it was a great meal though. Now I want to have salad as part of my lean and green again. :D Those tomatos were fabulous.

Thanks again to everyone for your suggestions and encouragement. I really appreciate it. :)

Pretty much all steak places are good choices. Just ask for no butter and no potato/rice/bread and mmmmmmmm.
