New RTD Packaging...

Postby Nancy » March 21st, 2006, 5:03 pm

Howdy Doody, MakeMeThinner Forum Folks ~

 I just wondered how you like the new RTD packaging. So far just the Chocolates are available in the new packages…I’m waiting for the ‘Nillers to ship out...

I think they are super - they fit in the drink cups of :veedub: Buzz, my VeeDub Bugster, they feel good in my hand and I love the little foil tear-off top - you can :buddies: chug them right from the little sippy top or use a straw for dainty sippage. :guzzle:

The unique package design is so  cool - I imagine little carton folders sitting near the conveyor belts in Jason Pharmaceuticals making all those little folds at just the right angle for our sipping pleasure...

For some reason, they taste creamier and smoother than ever before.

:cateye: Remember, they sell for $2.49 per drink box or enjoy the 10% case discount. A case of 24 sells for just $53.78 ($2.24 each)…ah. Thinny bliss in each Ready To Drink!

Lots of people call them their RTGs (Ready To Go) Drinks! :leopard:

You've got me so excited, I have a new batch of Choco-RTD's coming on Monday! So, they're round? Or do they just fit in the cup holders? Now I'm really going to accost the delivery person when they arrive! (Just kidding, I am not scary to the fine delivery folks...I have my bars!)

One more thing...

Postby dede4wd » March 21st, 2006, 10:44 pm

Ooh, and Nancy,

If you get a chance, can you tell the powers that be that you have a customer who is threatening to hold her breath until she turns blue (and possibly longer) until we get nanner RTD's? It's worth a shot. I'll start holding my breath now...I mean now...Well soon! I just LOVE my bananna shakes!

Thanks!

Does the new packaging still include the little mini straw? I really liked the rectangular packaging because I could easily pack several into a small mini cooler for traveling. I ordered two cases this past Monday, I didn't know about the new packaging.

Yep, they still come with a straw and they are "round". They are taller than the old ones but not as wide. They aren't aren't as big as a soda can. They are close to the size of some of those power drinks in the skinny cans...like "Red Bull".

I love the new design and have had no problem fitting them into a small cooler/lunchbox.

They are still pretty heavy. There are fewer in the box so I guess that cuts down on the weight some, but they are still heavy since most of the weight comes from the product itself.

Any way you slice it I could not travel without them! I always take a small suit case full of RTDs. The smaller case size actually fits quite nicely in my carry on bag. I don't carry them on though...I check them along with my regular bag.

I've foregone all other shakes but the RTD's. I found that I just prefer the way they taste to the powdered shakes and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the convenience. And I figure since they are usually 3 meals of mine a day ... I'm WORTH the few cents extra.

Nancy - I've gotten TWO shipments of the chocolate RTD's already (mixup with my autoship; but that's another story) -- yes, the packaging is cool. They are more "current" or perhaps I want to say "trendy". The old packaging reminded me of a chocolate milk juice box but this new look is very much like one of the protein shakes you would find at your supermarket.

They still have a straw - but the old straw was just like on the kids juice boxes -- it had a bendy top. The new straw has two parts that collapse into each other. One thing I have noticed is the straw doesn't "snap" into place -- so once it's in the box it can collapse into itself. :( Maybe you could comment to the company about that. IMHO I think the old straw was better --- but since the box is now taller -- they needed a different straw.

However -- I like 'em so much -- the straw is no problem.

The new straws are telescoping and I intended to mention that up ^ there but I guess I need Medimemory...

Scrabbler, I love the trendy new look, too. Leopard Woman is totally into form and how something looks, smells, feels and tastes; in that order. My man is into function...

Actually we haven't had our straws collapse on us, yet...we just pull the straw out and it "locks" into place.

Let me know if others have problems with their straws collapsing, too.

The RTDs are so creamy and very good. I think the convenience is worth the extra $. They are perfect for traveling, for slurping in the car and for the office. The best part during the summer time is no skanky-smelling jar to wash.

I would love a Nanner RTD, too...let's not hold our breath too long, Little Darlin' it might not be healthy!

Love the RTD's, the new packaging fits into my cup holder in the car better, I can also fit more into that little shelf on the door of my fridge :)

I have not had any problumes with the straws. But with anything out there I am sure there is the posability of a bad batch, I know on my vanilla with the old packaging I had several straws that had holes in the bendy part. Made things interesting :)

I still have a case of the old style RTD and can't wait to see the new stuff. Aphrael, I know what you mean about the straws with the hole in the bend. I've had several.

new rtd's

Postby oregonrose » August 26th, 2006, 6:21 pm

The new rtd's sound great. Does this also mean that they figured out the vanilla skin thing? I relly like the vanilla flavor better but that string skin thing I would get in my mouth made me want to gag! talk about an appetite suppressant! anyway, wll be ordering some soon, just want to know if it should be both or just chocolate. thanks! n

RTD's

Postby katie&3 » August 27th, 2006, 8:06 am

How are these RTD's compared to the packaged shakes. I love to blend up the packaged shakes with ice cubes. They are nice and thick this way and oh so yummy. I'm afraid that the RTD's won't fill me up like the blended would, or I would get an awful tinny taste from a can. I don't have any kind of sample to go by and kind of afraid to order these even though they sound quite easy to just take along. What is the difference between the two?

At this time, the RTDs are available only in Dutch Choc and French Vanilla. I'd love to see another flave or two, also. I recently suggested Bananner! Guess we’ll have to add Strawberry to the list of suggestions. I’m hoping for Raspberry, too.

The RTDs do not come in a can but in a foil-lined paper structure with little folds to make it similar in shape to a can. Once used, you may flatten them for easy disposal.

Over the years, I've gotten only two RTDs with some filmy stuff - sortta like "puddin' skin" but honestly, just those two individual boxes.

We have had very few customers return RTDs. Medifast will certainly replace products if there is a problem with them. We just need to call the Customer Call Center; returns need to be done within 30 days.

I wonder if it may result from the packages becoming too warm. Even though the RTDs need no refrigeration, I keep just what I will use in the course of a couple of days in my car during the hottest part of the summer. We always take them to the beach and have them shipped to our condo for vacations. No problems with them.

The RTDs seem to wear off sooner for me than a 'packet shake.' Katie&3, the RTDs may be purchased for $2.49 per single drink - you may want to try one of each flavor to see how you like them. There are 24 to a case and sell for $53.80. With a 10% case discount, they average $2.25 each. RTDs do taste a bit different from the packet shakes – somewhat creamier. We each have our own take on them, I suppose. They have the same protein, calories and carb content as a packet shake but can be used by people that are lactose intolerant. Yes, they do cost a little more per shake than the packet shakes; we pay extra for the convenience but for some of us, it is worth it now and then to do so. Some people who would not be able to stick to a weight loss program otherwise, love it because RTDs provide easy, fast healthy food with no tummy aches.

RTD's

Postby katie&3 » August 29th, 2006, 2:09 pm

Thank you for the information. I think I will give them a try since sometimes it is impossible for me to get a meal in before the 3 hours are up. This way I can carry them with me and keep on schedule. Thanks again.
