Need Some Help from St. Jude... (It Worked!!!)

Postby mellowmom » October 16th, 2006, 12:55 pm

I know in the relative realm of things..this isn't a really big thing to be praying for...but if any of you have some spare time, could you say a little prayer to St. Jude that I am able to find my beloved kitty..Mandy.

She's totally disappeared! I've looked all around the house under beds, in closets, all her usuall hideouts and nothing... Can't find her anywhere. She's an indoor cat...never have left her outside.

Spoke to my son that lives at home and he admitted he might have left the back door open to the yard last night, but swears he saw Mandy in the house after that.

But another neighbor reported hearing a ginormous cat fight late last night...and now I'm worried for her. She's the sweetest kitty, wakes me up every morning with little mews... I take her downstairs for her meals and then when I'm using the computer she jumps up on my lap and just purrs.... I miss her terribly and my heart's breaking thinking she might be gone for good.

So, if you don't mind...say a little prayer for Mandy's safe return, from wherever she is...

Thanks,
Carmel

Oh Carmel, I feel you pain. Have you looked under the bushes, etc. outside? If she's hurt, she may be sleeping it off and will show up at your door today.

My cat does go outside, but he's funny, he never leaves the yard....granted, we have 7 acres, but he always stays close to the house. Well one night he was at the door and I went to let him in. He does this thing where he wants me to open the door, but then he can't decide whether to come in or not and he rolls over on his back. If he could talk he would say "Just leave the door open so I can come in on a whim". Well, I was impatient and said "Fine! Just stay out there!" He was gone the next time I checked and was nowhere to be found for a full 24 hours! Imagine how I felt....bad mommy. bad bad mommy.

He came back, but I think he was teaching me a lesson. I spent hours searching for that cat!

Edited to add: When did come back, he acted so non-chalant....no apologies, no nothin!

I can't promise to pray to St. Jude, but I certainly WILL pray/hope for your kitty's safe return. One of my dogs got out of the yard a few months ago, and I was in a panic. So I know how scared you must be for her.

Let us know what happens!

I'm praying also. Kitties can be so special! You'll find her. Maybe try some really smelly tuna inside and outside? Or another food she really can't resist?

Gone around the neighbors houses...no one has seen her. I'm hoping that she might have gone into someone's garage for shelter...

Just had a good cry about an hour ago. Then went on the computer, printed up flyers and pasted them to all the mailboxes in and around our development. Next, I'm calling the local vets to see if anyone turned in a lost or injured kitty.

I can't believe that Gilroy does not have an animal shelter. When I called the nearest one to us in San Martin, I was told that they don't get cats from Gilroy and for me to call the Police Department! ....who then told me to call the local tallow company to see if they had picked up a dead cat!!! (that's when I sat down and had the good cry).

Oh, my God. Talk about insensitive!!

Did she have a collar on? Hopefully she's just hiding somewhere or someone took her in. If she's used to being indoors, she might've shown up at someone's door.

Thank you so much, all you for your good "vibes" and prayers. Mandy, the cat, is back! Around 11:00PM this evening, I decided to give it one last try and see if I called Mandy she would come in from wherever she was.

So I stood out the front door for about the zillionth time today and called out her name. Just when I was ready to call it a night I heard this faint muffled meow. Followed by a longer one. I stepped outside and figured it was coming from the neighbor's yard. Went over to their front driveway and tripped their "motion detector lights" in the front yard. I then saw Mandy huddled amongst the trash cans that had been put out for pick-up tomorrow. As I approached her she ran under their car and it took about 10 minutes of "coaxing" before I was finally able to get her out from under the car so I could grab her and carry her home... Phew! I am so relieved.

Thank you all, again for those good thoughts. I'm sure they all helped bring Mandy home this evening.

I have a cat that once got out and was out for a month. I would see him once in a while in the empty yard next door but I was either going to work or he would run from me, I was just thankful he was alive. It rained everynight that month, or so it seemed and one night my husband saw him and decided that was it! We were planning a attack to get him back. Long story short Ozzy is home now, a different cat than before but home none the less.
I know how scary that can be, Ozzy doesn't have front claws so I was very worried. I am glad your Mandy is home safe, most likely, she learned something too :)

Oh, so scary...
I am so pleased that Mandy-kitty is home, safe & sound!
I have had similar experiences with my sweet Jasper (RIP). He was my kitty soul mate and ended up in the dangedest places - on the roof, in the ducts under the house, you name it. Thank goodness for all nine lives!

Yes, Jo, Mandy is back unscathed, save for some very dirty paws and fur. She's kind of creme colored and had dainty pink little pads on her paws, but now she's more of a tan colored and her pads were almost black. I plan on taking her to the groomer this weekend for a good bath and trim. Thank goodness Birman's fur doesn't mat, or else she'd really be a mess.

Thanks again to all of you for your prayers/vibes and concerns.
