National Nurses Week

Postby Arklahoma » May 8th, 2006, 3:44 pm

It's National Nurses Week ...

Image

This past weekend, at work, there was food everywhere. Our facility catered in a huge spread for each shift and was actually walking around with food-in-hand and pushing it on everyone. Normally, we are not allowed to eat in patient care areas, but during large celebrations it's actually encouraged. I was very strong and did not partake, although, it was soooo tough b/c the catering company was Italian with lots and lots of pasta ... YIKES!!!

Hug a Nurse ... Happy Nursing Week!!!

May 12th is Florence Nightingale's birthday, so in America we celebrate National Nurses Week during the week of her birth.

I for one have had nothing but good care from you nurses!!! I believe I would not have recovered well from my surgeries if it was not for the care I got. I really appreciate all of you who are dedicated to taking care of us when we are ill and in the hospital.

I also want to tell you that you SUCCEEDED in the biggest test of all! You made the choice not to participate in eating the food that would throw you off the medifast program. I solute you!!! :bravo:

Hey Ark,

I lucked out, they don't feed you on nurses week if you work weekend nights! But I did get a canvas fold up chair with the hospital logo on it instead of a big raise !

Thanks everyone!

PS, our head nurse shelled out over 800 dollars and bought everyone of us a 40 dollar massage at our health line.

Wow, Lori, I don't ever remember head nurses being that generous with his/her staff!!! Of course, we were making $1.25 to start!!! Hey, a canvas chair and a massage are much better and so much nicer than the small box of Russell Stovers that administration forked out per nursing unit!!! :D :D

Thank you Ark and to nurses everywhere! And VERY well done on staying on program! I know it must have been tough, but now you get to feel your POWER over food.
