McDonalds and NO TEMPTATION!

Postby kdluster » February 19th, 2004, 6:05 am

Good Morning!

I had a date with my four year old last night and he wanted to go to McDonalds - so off we went. I was so surprised when I walked in and had absolutely no desire for anything!!!!

On another note - my 4 month old was up late, and I thought, I am going to be exhaused in the morning...but nope I was up this morning with a ton of energy!!!!

And to top it all off I am down 5.5 LBS! YIPPEE! YAHOO!

It's amazing how much energy we can get just from lightening our load and putting good things in our bodies!

Glad to hear of your success!

Karen.. Good for you, espically only after a short time on Medifast. This is great will power, and you need a pat on the back, for with standing temptation. I love McDonalds, and still find it hard to resist. I open my "calorie counter" for reassurance when I get these temptations. Yes, even when you lose a lot of weight, or are close to your goal, these items still seem appealing, however knowing your strength, and what you accomplish, seeing the statistics makes you only stronger.

Some standard items:

Item Cal Fat Carb Protein
Cheese Burger 274 11 31.1 14.7
Double Cheese 421 21 34 26
The Big Mac 461 21.5 42.5 27
Chicken Nuggets ( 1 ) 40 2.4 1.9 3.1
Hamburger 243 7.2 33 13.5
Chicken Sandwich 360 17 37 17
Quarter Pounder 496 26 38 30
Fish Burger 366 16 41 17
Bacon Double CB 447 23 34 28
Big Breakfast 578 36 40 26
Large Fries 400 17.5 57 6
Hash Brown ( 1 ) 134 75 16 1.5
Milkshake 380 9 68 11

Yikes, just 1 of most of these items are our entire daily intake!!

Good for you for being strong!

Oddly, it was not too long ago, that I was a regular "patron" of the Micky-D's drive thru, I can rember getting on a "lazy" roll, and seeing it 3-4 times a week, then even as much as hitting it in the evenings, too lazy to fix a "real" dinner for the kiddies.

A standard lunch (based on that wonderful nail in the coffin dollar menu) would easily consist of

3 Double Cheesburgers and a dollar fry.

QUick calculations for my LUNCH ALONE:

Double Cheese 421 Fat:21
Double Cheese 421 Fat:21
Double Cheese 421 Fat:21
Dollar Fry (est) 200 Fat:10
-------------------------------------
1463 calories and 73 grams of fat - JUST FOR LUNCH?

But, hey, it was only $4.00 what a GREAT deal!

YIKES - oh the web we weave......

-Never again!

lolol.. NO, that would have been an extra $1.00 I did not need to spend. (honest)

Laugh now, it was pretty daily for me. This was a true-past Mike, not a lie. That was my average daily regimine, honest-injun.

I would sometimes substitute one of the D/C's for a McChicken sand, but there was always 3 burgres of spme type, and a fry $4.00 (I always knew the exact change amount and was ready. I could have a cheeseborger gone before I was even out of the parkinglot!!

The other days, there was a Wendies close by. Same thing!! When they came up with the competitive $1.00 menu to compete, not only did I secretly cheer, but I went regularly and got 3 of the 1/4-pound double stacks, and while I ate those if I opted not to get fry's, the $1.00 chili was cooling down.

My point is not in anyway to make anyone hungry, its to point out what we have all gotten into. Most of you are probably not to this extreme. I never thought it extreme, I was Fat, and already at 337# I was not gaining anymore (oh I was wrong) Convienience is what makes these joints easy for us to lose control (ME) and lose the value of life.

From the bottom of my heart, Medifast made the life-changing assist for me.

Life is good without Mc'D's for me!

I have been on a week and a day now. On monday I helped a friend cook dinner. My huge craving has been french fries from McDs (but I haven't given in!!), and on her menu was FFs!!! To tell you the truth, as I was cooking them they smelled oh so good, but on the ride home all I could smell on my clothes was greasy, french fry smell..... and it wasn't all that appetizing at all!!

Plus, have you looked at McDs "nutrition fact" booklet? Holy cow (literally)!!!

Maybe when I reach my goal I'll take a bite... and that will be when I'm healthy enough to work out longer so I can work it all off!!! ;)

You know, I was a HUGE Ff person. My favorite food and biggest all time weekness. I can honestly say that I haven't missed them at all. Somehow being on this program and getting out of the normal food routines has caused me to really change how I think about food and even which foods I crave.

Oddly enough, I haven't craved fried foods or chocolate. Instead I've craved fruits. And I have to admit it - BREAD. I still have a huge thing for pizza - will need to figure out how to fit it into my life after MF and how to eat it one or two pieces at a time (instead of 5 or 6 or the whole pizza!). I also miss regular bread, pasta, potatoes, etc.

yeah I would say I miss pasta and bread the most. Strangely I don't crave chocolate, since just about all I drink are the Dutch Chocolate shakes. I do crave beef and cheese (not necessarily together), however.

I did break down and tried some BK french fries. I could feel the shortening coat the roof of my mouth. Yuk. I couldn't eat them.

I don't know what I crave the most--it seems to change from day to day, though I have many days when I don't think twice about food--and those days are a blessing! When i started, I went through pizza withdrawls, but since then, I've found myself craving simpler things like...cheese or biscuits and gravy, swedish meatballs, party pinwheels--LOL
It seems to be all over the map with no rhyme or reason--my kids have a bag of pretzels on the counter that I stare at every day and now and then a thought creeps in and says, "As if ONE of those would stop your weight loss!" and I angrily reply, "Who are you talking to? Not ME because *I* have never heard of eating just ONE of those!" LOL
So far so good, though, I haven't craved anything enough to stop what I consider to be a blessing--my weight loss!

Yeah, call the men in the white jackets. It may be time....
