There is a chemical in it that actually triggers hunger. It's almost better for one to drink REGULAR soda (which of course we can't do)

I know how you feel. I HATE HATE HATE water. But man... I choke it down. It makes a huge difference. I also try to add crystal light. That helps a LOT. Try to sip it all day, thats what I do. By the end of the day you will easily have drank the 64 oz. From the time I get up til the time I go to bed I sip. I can't gulp it. It makes me feel bloated.

You're doing great. We're at the same weight, I know we can do this.

mmm... i'm going to stop with the pop in the house. as much as i like to drink it, i'm sure you are right. i can't seem to limit myself to even two a day. it's getting worse! so... telling everyone in the house to NOT get the soda.

i do not like crystal light. tastes weird to me, for some reason. oh and i do love water, but i also want other tastes. i used to drink a lot of water and a glass of omega milk and orange juice (not together) would get thrown in there along the way. i drink decaf tea once a day as well. normally after my oatmeal for breaky. i can't go without my cup of tea!

the problem with water is that i don't have a container big enough to hold all the water i need/want. i'm constantly having to leave what i'm doing to get more water. this kinda gets annoying for myself and others. more so for me. ;P

anyway, sleep calls... g'nite!

I think there are some more Canadians around, so they might know.

no TJ Maxx here and no Cost Plus World Market either. i'll have to search the shops here and see what i can find. money is a bit of an issue though. so if it's pricey, i'll have to skip it.

today is a rough day. i'm having FMS flare-ups and had to cancel things for today.

i hurt all over. my right knee is causing me large amounts of pain. my left hand has the worst ache/pain in it that i haven't had in a while.

i awoke w/ a massive headache.

i awoke desperate for a drink of water.

i truly hate living with pain on a daily basis. it makes it hard to feel up and good about things.

hrmm... i think i shall go back to bed and rest. maybe these pain meds'll kick in and i won't have to feel this discomfort for the rest of the day.

oh and my allergies are going overboard.

what a funtastic day this is. :P

I went through the same problems when I started. It does get better, I promise.

I ordeded my daVinci syrups online because the stores around here only carried 1 or 2 SF flavors. Google for it and you'll find several low carb stores online.

I'm another one who's adversely affected by diet soda. I have to be careful when I drink them, because if I drink one by itself, I get hungry right afterward. I limit myself to 1, at most 2, a day, and I try to drink it with my L&G. It's that little bit of sweet I'm craving at the end of a meal, but the food in my stomach balances out whatever's in the diet soda that makes me hungry. You could also try brewing up some good iced tea. Don't do instant; it tastes nasty.

hey hey... sorry i haven't been around to respond to posts. been kinda in a weird headspace and such.

at any rate, i'm no longer getting the diet sodas in the house. they are VERBOTTEN! i got non fat skim milk for my cup of decaf tea (yay!) and am back on track. seems i fell off the keto wagon cus of the milk i had been using. i need to use my brain more.

today, or should i say yesterday, was really rough for me. a tuesday from hell pain wise. my hunger was ten fold what it normally is and i wanted to eat a lot of comfort foods. i didn't though.

i suffer from FMS (fibromyalgia) and it's often very difficult for me to function like the average human being. constant pain, discomfort, tiredness and the likes often cause me to want to stay in bed all day. if i go out one night, i'm screwed the next day. i cannot stand nor walk for long periods of time due to head to toe constant pain.

i am on too many meds, imho. i just got on another one that is an anti-inflamitory that helps a bit w/ the pain too. but UGH i'm sick of living like this. if i didn't have this, my losing weight would go so much more smoothly.

mmm... i need to get some sleep.

Don't cheat Kara  . I don't know much about the program yet since I don't have my first delivery yet (wah) but I am realizing that our bodies really do need time to adjust to a diet that has considerabley less intake on all fronts. I have been taking the principles of the program and trying to eat much less and in quite small proportions, plus an L&G, as well as drink more water.

I have found that I actually have enough to eat with that (though I am truly not eating very much) yet my psyche and mentality (old habits) tell me differently.

Is there a chance that the hunger is not real hunger, but mere cravings or a desire just to eat, being mistaken as hunger ?

This is just my own latest thing... to discern the difference between the two (which I have often mistaken for each other, in the past).

I wish you well.

woo... well i haven't cheated yet. ;)

i know some of it comes from my old habits. i love to eat. i love textures. i think food is amazing and i love trying new things. i turn to food when i'm down and it makes me "happy". it sucks.

some of it is real hunger. my stomach is growling and i get a wee bit dizzy. i then know i have to have something right away.

i've a feeling i'll be battling this hunger for months to come. wether it is mental hunger or real hunger, i guess i'll find out.

it is good that you are getting your body used to it before you go on MF. before i did, i ended up eating CRAP like it was my last supper.

i hope MF works for you! i am down 7 lbs, so i'll see how it all comes together. ;)

it's up and down for me, atm.

i'll be weighing myself tomorrow and seeing if anything has happened this past week. i don't FEEL like i'm losing anything, so that can be a bit disheartening.

i keep thinking i should be losing weight a LOT faster than i am. i envy males who seem to lose the weight faster than females. curse. ;P

Hi Kara.
Try not to look at this program as losing weight, but as getting healthy.
It may help a little in the slow times and plateaus, if you view it this way.

Sometimes I think people that have a little more weight to lose and are on the program longer, have an avantage over those that just want to loose a few pounds. Being on the program longer can instill the kinds of healthy habits that can lead to staying healthy long term.

Keep us posted...:)

i understand where you are coming from. i've tried other ways to lose weight in the past w/ little success. before this i had been eating Weight Watcher's food from their recipes. it was all good, but very much a hassle to figure it all out.

after a while i got so depressed i'd turn to the junk food. not often, but enough to make a big difference. no fast food though.

so my main meals were always healthy, but it was the inbetween foods that weren't.

i'm glad i've lost 10 lbs so far. i cannot WAIT to lose the rest though.

i am on too many meds, imho. i just got on another one that is an anti-inflamitory that helps a bit w/ the pain too

Kara, what meds are you on? There might be something you are taking that is slowing down the weight loss. I've read that anti-depressants, beta blockers and anti inflammatories are the worst. And of course, I'm on two of those three!

For what it's worth, I replaced my anti-inflammatories with MSM, Glucosamine and Chondroitin, Omega-3 and Evening Primrose oil. I don't even miss the prescription anti-inflammatory meds!

My fibro specialist was just in Canada for a year. Quebec I think. He just got back and is starting to see patients again. He is the top specialist in fibromyalgia(Dr. Patrick Wood, if you want to google him and see what kind of research he does) in the US. If you would like to know what he put me on last year I can send you the list. I'm not sure about the cost of vitamins and supplements in Canada but a couple of the ones I take are kind of expensive...imho. But they make a huge difference! It isn't a cure but I couldn't get out of bed unless I was taking them.

Let me know if I can help you in any way. Even when my brain isn't functioning enough to post, I do try to read some posts at least every other day.

Crystal Light

Postby Karakuri » July 6th, 2006, 10:40 am

i just noticed i made a comment saying i dislike Crystal Light.

well i USED to hate it, but maybe this diet makes it taste ok now. i've taken to mixing flavours and using only half packages insted of a full one when making jugs of it. it's actually pretty good!

i used to be able to taste the aspertame in mostly everything but, as i said, maybe MF has changed my taste buds or maybe Crystal Light changed things? not sure.

at any rate... Crystal Light iced tea w/ the fruity Crystal Light tastes awesome. maybe i'll make some popsicle with it too.

wow... thanks for this wonderful info. i've been so lax at finding information. every night i go to bed thinking i'll do research the next day, but i wake-up too exhausted to do much of anything.

i am currently on celexa, amitriptyline (which is also given to anorexics), and arthrotec. the last one is the anti-inflamatory. tbh, i don't really use it unless i'm in dire straits (not the band). i generally just try to suffer through the day. FUN!

what is MSM, btw?

i need to find a fibro specialist where i live. i've been too a rheumy and normal GPs, but that's about it. it's written down on paper that i have FMS and i have a copy of my own as proof.

the stuff he put you on, is it what you're no longer taking? or is it the suppliments and such?
