Good Balsamic Vinegar

All that hard work and now what? Let's talk about how to keep those pounds off...

Good Balsamic Vinegar

Postby hawaiiwhatnot » January 10th, 2005, 1:05 pm

Hey you other maintainers,

Are you using balsamic vinegar? I found a spectacular tasting one at William Sonoma "Fini". Little expensive at $10+ for 7oz bottle, but VERY GOOD!

Any others recommended?

I have a salad of raw spinach and fat-free cottage cheese with balsamic vinegar followed by grilled chicken or steak in the same plate using the remaining vinegar as a sauce. Broke da mouth ono! (extremely delicious in Hawaiian pigeon).

Does it have any carbs? I was shocked when I looked at the Balsamic Vinegar I have at home and it has 4 grams of carbs in a tablespoon!!!

I love to put it on my veggies, but if I can't find one that is lower in carbs, I am going to quit using it.

Let me know, or if you know of any others that are lower in carbs or carb-free...

I have a bottle of Trader Joe Balsamic Glaze in the refer right now...it is what I consider "High Priced" calorically and carbolically - with 9 grams of carbs, 9 grams of sugars and 35 calories per Tablespoon, it rarely touches my alluring lips - if it does, it lives forever on my hips...

I USED to like that stuff but it doesn't like me! It's  not good  for me...buh-bye balsamic binegar, buh-bye :byebye:

I use Drew's Rosemary Balsamic Vinegar -- it has 0 carbs and <1g sugar per tablespoon, but it's caloric (80 per tb) so it's not like you can just splash it on with wild abandon. ;) It packs a lot of flavor, though, so just a single tablespoon over steamed veggies is really all you need, and it's yum.

Thanks for the tip - see? It is pricey in the calories category, too...
