Calorie/Carb/Protein Totals

Postby mellowmom » April 22nd, 2006, 11:23 am

Is there any definitive quantitative amount of Calorie/Carbs/Protein amounts listed for someone on a Medifast program.

Reason I'm asking is I'm thinking of getting a software program that keeps track of my daily doings and I can set it for how many calories, and grams of carbs and protein I need to be at every day.

Something like... 875 Calories/75g Carbs/95g Protein????
I'm on a modified diabetic plan, so I figure the carbs must be a little lower than a regular plan.

Even a general ballpark number would be helpful .

Thanks :?:

I believe the carbs and the protein are around 80 - 85 grams and the calories are 800 - 1000 for the 5/1 program.

Thanks so much for posting this. I have been curious about this as well. I am on the regular 5&1 plan, and wondered what the totals were as well.

Howdy ~

Our program is a balanced ratio of protein to carbs and generally we try to stay in the 1:1 range (of protein to carbohydrates).

The carbohydrate range for people on the 5 and 1 plan is around 80-85 grams and the protein range, depending upon the protein food choice is about the same. The caloric intake range is between 800-950, possibly as high as 1000.

The fat intake is relatively low. Most of the Medifast meals have little or no fat in them. We get 25-30 grams of fat or less a day on the 5 and 1 plan.

In regards to the diabetic meal plans, it varies depending on which caloric plan the individual selects. (Some of you are wondering what I am referring to here - people with diabetes have a different meal plan than the regular 5 & 1 Program. They have menu plan options based on their doctor’s recommendation for their health needs and weight requirements. The diabetic program starts at the 940-calorie meal plan and goes as high as a 1200-calorie plan. The carbohydrate intake is about 90-120 grams; the protein level again is about a 1:1 ratio with the carbohydrates and the fat intake is relatively low.

Our plans are low glycemic and do not overly stimulate our insulin and blood glucose levels – good news because it does not stimulate the fat-storing enzymes.

Thanks for the info, Nancy.

What you said was about what I had "guesstimated" when filling out my "goals" on this new software program I trying out.

Thanks again.
