Bouillion

Postby Trish » April 20th, 2004, 8:47 pm

Has anybody ever heard of bacon bouillon? I can't believe someone doesn't make it. My mother used to put bacon fat in lots of foods for flavor.

I'd like to get that flavor, but am not about to put bacon fat in my food.

I think I saw it the other day in the market... It was near the Big Mac Bouillon, and the Pizza Hut Super-Deluxe-Pan-Thick-Pepperoni flavoring... Right across from the Non Fat KFC Popcorn Chicken flavored Slimfast...

ORGANIC BOUILLON

Postby marge » April 21st, 2004, 9:29 am

HI Trish:

I use an organic bouillon and it is called Vegetable Bouillon made with all organic veggies by The Organic Gourmet. It has 8 extra large cubes and is so delicious. I get it in the health food store...comes regular or low sodium :exercise: ..It is very satisfying and I hope it is ok program wise to use it because when I break up the medifast crackers into the big mug of mine it feels and looks like a meal

Happy day

hmmmm......Maybe I need to rethink my opinion on Bouillon again! I swear, if you tell me there is a Strawberry Shortcake I'm out the door in a flash headed to my local Grocer!

cool bouillons

Postby mombarnes » January 18th, 2005, 7:07 pm

Yep ... ham bouillon is good as an additive for those of us raised on good old bacon-grease-cooked stuff. They are easy to find in the soup area of most groceries ... although tonite I also found boullion in the seasonings area.
I found some interesting new (new to me) bouillons in the Mexican food area ... tomato bouillon and Picante Spicy Chicken Bouillon. Yum. Can't wait to try in the chili or other soups. Or maybe by themselves as a hot snack. It's SO COLD here!

Yup, the ham flavored bouillon is very good - add a skosh of liquid smoke, too. All the oink oink without the lardage...

Ham Boullion

Postby Rita » June 23rd, 2005, 3:17 pm

Knorr had a Ham flavor Boullion cube that was out of this world. They discontinued it earlier this year. I contacted customer service at <snip>no urls please - Mr. Snippy</snip> and asked them to bring it back. The Goya brand ham flavoring is weak tasting, but a possible low-cal seasoning alternative. I really hope Knorr puts the ham boullion back into production. at 1 gram of fat and 15 calories per cube, it was a heart smart way to really enjoy beans! Email your Knorr representitive today! ;)

I had never heard of any type of boullion other than the basic chicken, beef and vegetable but after reading this I decided to look a little closer and see what I could find. :scratchhead: and I was pleasantly suprised to find not only a ham soup base with virtually no calories or carbs but a lobster flavored boullion too!!!!!!!!!! :bib: I love the flavor of lobster and I am sure I will find some way to incorporate my little new treasure into my new eating plan :bib: maybe in the creamy tomatoe soup prehaps :hmmm: I will let you other lobster lovers know what I come up with

:whattha: Oh, my!

Lobster flavor?

Wowee! :cateye:

I think that would be very good in the Chicken With Wild Rice & Vegetable Soup, too!

Of course when we eat Lobster w/Wild Rice Soup, we must wear a :bib: bib and have our pinky extended and pretend to be in a hoity toity restaurant!

I’ve had ham-flavored before and it is fine.

 Thanks for checkin’ out the shelves at the local mart!

:secret: P.S. Folks, remember that the bouillons do contain a significant amount of salt and that contributes to :water: water retention…

I LOVE lobster and saw you mention this in another post, too, about a faux lobster bisque. Do you know the brand? I haven't been able to find it ...

Thanks! My local store carries it, but only the chicken, beef and veggie kinds. I just went online and ordered a few others to try. Woo hoo!! (Faux lobster bisque and clam chowder, here I come!)
