Beef stew

Postby Grandmom » October 24th, 2006, 6:32 pm

I just got my new order of MF and I ordered some beef stew to try. It's a little thick so next time will add more water and probably a boullion cube to give it a little more taste. However, all things considered, it's not too bad. It will be two months for me on the 26th - 18lbs. gone. Am thrilled with the results and can't believe it, but I'm not sick of the food! In fact, I love the vanilla shakes with lots of ice, the chicken noodle soup is amazing to take to work and the oatmeal at night handles the sweet tooth. I hope I can stick with it until I reach my goal. However, I'm sure the holidays will be hard but we just can't beat ourselves up when we screw up - just remember to get right back on track. Good luck everyone.

The beef stew is not favorite with me. I shouldn't have ordered the two boxes. Maybe one day, it might become a favorite, right now, nada. Tastes change, so maybe it will have a second life with me one day!!

The new vanilla pudding is good, though.

Grandmom, there's no "hoping" about it. Just decide you WILL stick with it. You can do it if you want to!

Also, for a sweet treat at night, try the pudding. I have chocolate pudding every night, even on maintenance, mixed with raspberry Crystal Light instead of water. Although I'm going to try the vanilla with my next order.

The stew is bland, but with some added garlic powder and a general purpose seasoning of your choice, I have made it to where it may be my fave. Try some variations, and you may find the same. Good luck!

Yup, I agree with bdg. I just got my beef stew yesterday. With a little extra garlic powder, it's great!

Gave it another try--garlic powder, onion powder, hot shot pepper, AND salt--yeesh! Not time yet, for me to enjoy the stew. Shall keep trying if I don't reach goal beforehand! Thanks for the ideas, anyway! :|

LeopardWoman suggested to me to add a little worchestershire. She says it's really good with that addition.

Was gonna send mine back. Ick! But will try to spice it up and see.

Of all the packets, this one actually tasted "astronaut-y" to me. :D

I love the beef stew. I put in some garlic salt. Next time, I'll try the Worcester.

I got a free sample or I probably wouldn't have tried it. I just added a little salt & pepper and it was sooooooo good. I'll definately be ordering more.

I didn't mind the taste at first, but did realize, like most of the other non-creamy soups... it needs to sit for a bit. Garlic and maybe a little pepper definitely helps.

I finally tried my sample packet, and I'm with Joan. I added garlic and onion, let it sit, etc. Blech. Didn't taste like any beef stew I've ever had.

But hey, more for you guys, I guess.
