Hi...I'm new

Postby DalaiMama » March 17th, 2007, 10:22 pm

Hello everyone.

I'm waiting to get off antibiotics to start my 5+1 next week. I've medifasted a couple of years ago but sabotaged myself as a stressed out grad student mom in New Orleans where the food was abundantly available and yummier than I could resist. I'm a couple of years wiser and have the tools to set myself up for success this time.

My parents have used Medifast to lose (and sadly later regain:( ) dozens of pounds each. I only need to lose 30 lbs.

My motivations to Medifast are:
--to relearn how to eat 5 small meals a day and realign my eating habits with my values.
--to set a good standard for the rest of my life. I'm not even 30 yet and know it will get harder to lose as my metabolism slows. I want to get fit now!
--to find a comfortable weight for my knees. They're in pain largely because of my weight. Yoga, hiking, everything I love is a chore when I am carrying extra weight around.
--to fit into my old clothes (I'm not shooting for my pre-pregnancy weight of 6 years ago, rather about 15 over.)

What I'm looking for on this board:

--support through those rough times when I want to give up--I lose interest in anything that isn't novel or instantly gratifying pretty easily.
--ideas for the Lean & Green. I'm shocked I've had to search high and low for clear guidelines on what's 'ok' to eat and for creative recipe ideas. (YES, I've read the start up guide.) Seems like Medifast could instantly boost their success rates if this information were more readily available.
--to share recipe ideas I've found already and have them scrutinized.
--camradarie--I've been touched by the sincerity and humor in everyone's posts.

I feel some relief that I don't have as much weight to lose as others here, but understand it might be slower to lose. I respect the work that everyone here has been putting into getting healthy and the inspiration you are sharing. Your stories are remarkable.

Welcome! YOu sound like you are really ready and will do just fine. This board is a great place for support, and you will find that is probably most important.

Write your motivations and place them on the refrigerator door, write down your goals make sure they are in front of you often, and you will have motivation. Instant gratification is what we all are all about. Otherwise we wouldn't have gained the weight, just remember it will take time, but you CAN make it.

Hello I just got my "life in a box" a few days ago. It is Sunday and I am waiting to start on Monday.I am a 5'4" woman who in the last year has balloned to 182.lbs..I feel awful. My doctor has worked to get my thyroid on the straight and narrow and got me on some supplements. He said I was overweight and needed to lose for my health.I went online and saw I was obese by the bmi calculators.I have tried other plans without a lot of success, but the doctore said Medifast might be a good jump start. He sells it ,but in order to get it I have to have Dr appointments every week and I do not have health insurance.I am nervous about starting this but i really want to get down to 140 at least.I am thinking it is realistic.I am looking on this site for testimonials to "rev" me up for the challenge and I figure five weeks is doable.Any suggestions?
Thanks

ROBBIE,
Most of us (including myself) order our products online. We have free Health Advisors and all the support in the world right here!
I'm not advising you...just letting you know what is available!
Five weeks is definitely 'doable' and you may find your results so great that you will want to continue on to your goal, as many here have.
Keep posting and asking questions, and help is on the way!
And you'll find plenty of testimonials and success stories!
Congratulations on starting your journey to health and fitness!

Rumi and Robbie, welcome.

Robbie, my insurance doesn't cover MF either and I have to go in weekly for blood tests and every other week for my nutritionist. But convinced Hubby I was worth investing in.

Rumi, we'd love to see what recipes you've come up with. Check out the recipe board here.

Congratulations to both of you for jumping on the MF wagon.

Congrats and welcome. You can actually order through the main site here. If you goto the makemethinner home page you can see the info there. You can also goto the Health Advisor page and research some of the HA's, but I would sigh-up with TSFL through Nancy and Terry and you will get a free health advisor along with the products. You never have to "buy" from your doctor.
The folks on here are wonderful and very helpful, and there is alot of info on here to help you as well./

Good luck.
