Hello all

Postby Lauraly » May 3rd, 2006, 4:41 pm

Hi, I've been lurking here for a few days and I guess it's time to make the formal introductions. So..um...hi! You all have already been a nice daily inspration for me during lurkdom, I am glad this forum is here!

It will be 2 weeks on Medifast for me come Friday and I'm already down about 11 pounds. I was on Medifast last year for a month and it worked pretty well. The problem was I decided to have a little "break" after a month and never got back on it. Now I am determined to stay on it until I reach my goal weight. I'm 182 now and I'm looking to get to 145 (I'm 5'8")

I quit smoking 6 weeks ago and gained some poundage that is now gone again, which is nice. This is the easiest diet I have ever been on because I don't have to THINK. I'm a lazy cook  It helps that I am single with no kids, because I can just clear the house of bad foods.

My biggest challenge is that I am still hungry very often. I was that way last time I was on it, too. I've never hit that point where I stop being hungry. Am I weird that way? But, I quit cigs, so I can do this too.

So that's it, I'll try to stay out of lurk mode from now on. :D

Hi

Hi Laura,
So glad you came out of lurking! I'm so sorry about not giving you any notice for the Arizona get-together! Maybe next time! You're doing GREAT on the program so far and seem to be off to a wonderful start!

As for the hungries, Hope they go away soon! If not, you might consider putting everything you put in your mouth on a program such as fitday and see if you see any problems...or, if you'd like, post what you eat daily and we'll see if we can see anything.

Also, I notice when I'm not super busy, I get the "head hungries." Where my brain decides I should be snacking on something, but I'm not hungry. Is it that, or do you have the grumblies?

Hungry

Postby Lauraly » May 3rd, 2006, 5:05 pm

Hi Dede,

As far as the hungries? I do the full fast more often than not just because it is easier than coming up with a l/g meal. A typical day:

7:30 wake up
8:15 shake
10:45 bar
1:20 soup or oatmeal
3:50 chai or hot chocolate
6:00 soup or shake or oatmeal
9:00 shake or pudding
11:30 bed
Somewhere during the day I have 1 Diet Rite or Diet Hanson's soda. I don't add anything fancy to the supplements, and I don't have snacks.

My tummy is not making noise, but it is gnawing at me, especially in the mornings. Afternoons and evenings I only feel hungry right about when its time to eat, but by the time I go to bed I am hungry again. It's not the "wanna munch something" head hungries, but a real ache. It never went away last time I was on it for a month.

Any ideas?

Since you're going to bed 2 1/2 hours after your last meal, I think you should have another shake or RTD. I remember that this question has been addressed many times on the support calls over the last three years that I've been a client of Take Shape For Life. Since you're only getting six supplements in every day, and nothing else---it wouldn't hurt you at all to have another one at bedtime. Many successful losers do this.
I've done it myself when I successfully lost 80 lbs., then 63 lbs. on Medifast. I know this program backwards and forwards....now if I can learn how to KEEP the weight off.

Welcome!!!

Welcome! You can do it  -- the coordination of your brain and your tummy in knowing if you are really hungry or not takes a few minutes -- we all have to retrain our bodies to eat only when it's necessary. Like someone here has said: we don't live to eat, but eat to live!

Maybe if you drink :guzzle: 8 oz of water when you feel as if you're hungry and wait, get your mind off of eating -- get busy doing something else, then hopefully, that feeling will go away -- I know it works for me! :)
