What is WRONG with me lately? I forgot that I had turned off my alarm yesterday because I woke up before it went off, so today I woke up late. Still could have at least done part of a workout, but was feeling kinda lightheaded yet again, so I didn't. And yesterday I only did a few minutes of the DVD and gave up, and today I have an appt for my shoulder so I won't be able to do any of it. I guess I can at least walk to the other building for the appt if it's not too hot (it's kind of a distance, and we do have a shuttle).

Plus I was up a whole pound, which I know is water because I've had some extra salt lately. But it's still irritating (then again, the salt and the dehydration are probably why I wasn't feeling so well; but knowing that really doesn't help much).

Blah. Hope everyone else is having a better day. Sorry to be so cranky. But between my shoulder and a problem with my bank, I'm just annoyed. Again.

Hey, Rob, sorry you're cranky and not feeling so hot across the board. Will it help or just annoy you further to take the opportunity right now to wish you happy maintenance anniversary? :-)

You rock. You may not feel like you rock right now, but you do. And every day longer that you successfully maintain is one day farther from being a "statistic" of the masses who fall off the wagon. I know I would like to be an exception to that rule, and I am pretty sure you do too! So, I am totally psyched for you, and it sounds like in the midst of your yucky-dom, now would be a great time to give yourself the much deserved pat on the back. Then again, that could aggravate the shoulder! ha

Hoping your day looks up.

Ha. Thanks, Lauren. I AM trying to have some perspective here, and the thing is, I'm doing fine weightwise (well, beyond being up the pound today, but I know what caused it and I know it's no big deal). The workout thing is bothering me some, and I just feel like it's been one excuse after another this week. But I also know it's really just been a few days (and actually, I had a decent though not great run a couple of days ago), so it really isn't as bad as it feels.

I think the grumpiness, at its root, is because a) my mom's birthday is Monday, and I'm missing her a lot right now, b) the temp has finally dropped a bit, but it's still just freakin' hot outside and c) I'm sick to death of this shoulder pain, and I'm worried that it's my rotator cuff and will require surgery. Guess I'll find out about THAT later.

And maybe to add to it all, I'm just not too happy with the job right now. The people are great and all, but I'm so bored, I can't stand it.

OK, deep breath. Things are MUCH better today. Saw the ortho yesterday; he says it's definitely a rotator cuff injury, but he doesn't think it's torn. I have to take painkillers/anti-inflammatories every six hours, ice it every night for 20 minutes, and avoid most arm/shoulder exercises because they'll aggravate. And then if it still hurts in four MORE weeks, I'll need an MRI. But he became my best friend when he said I could take OTC meds instead of prescription, and started to tell me to take four Advil at a time - then stopped himself, said, "But you're so small, you should make it three." Love him; he's clearly brilliant. icon_smile.gif

Anyway, this morning I had my fruit serving instead of the pastry thing before my workout, and while it wasn't stellar, it was at least decent. I ran 22 minutes, and walked the rest. I'm going to do a 3-mile DVD later on, too, and just skip the upper body stuff.

Oh, and weight's slowly dropping back down from the bloat, cept it's my usual sandbox thing so I'm sure it'll be down more once that's resolved. Which should be today or tomorrow, if my body sticks to its weird pattern.

Hey, Rob! Hope you had a great weekend.

Sorry about the shoulder injury, but congrats on the further affirmation of your diminutive size! :-)

FYI, you are not allowed to disappear off this board. I just don't have the ability (or time) to fill your shoes as resident rockstar maintainer! haha

Come on back. Wakey wakey!

Ciao, bella,

Lauren

Thanks, Michelle, and welcome!! You've joined a great group here, even if it's kind of quiet right now.

And I'm here, Lauren, I'm here. Just don't usually visit on the weekends, and I spent most of yesterday at the car dealership getting my stupid car fixed. Again.

Anyway, things are OK. I came down with a bit of a cold (or possibly allergies), which kind of explains the crap mood I was in last week. Plus I've been having some problems with the mega-dose of Advil, so I've stopped taking it for now.

Weight appears to be dropping slowly, but it's hard to tell because I keep having extra salt and bouncing around. I think I'm down about 4.5, though, which isn't bad for just over two weeks (for ME, and especially for me when I don't have much to lose).

Everything else is good. My cousin is supposed to be signing up for the same program. (She considered Medifast when I started, too, but the choices were VERY limited for vegetarians because a lot of seemingly veg foods contained meat products. This seems to have a lot more choices for her.)

Wow. I've heard about this happening to Medifasters, but it sure never happened to me when I was on it. But yesterday I actually forgot to eat. Unfortunately, I paid for the lack of calories with a shortened workout this morning, but I'm going to do a DVD this afternoon to make up for it.

Hey, Tex, I was just rejoicing about your return in your journal! And yep, still loving the new program. The food's great, I'm rarely hungry anymore, and I'm loving the variety. And it's working, so that definitely helps, too. icon_smile.gif

I just wish I could get my workout mojo back. But I think I'm almost there, now that I'm off the Advil and the heat's broken a little bit (at least for a day or two).

Oh man, I hear ya. I wish we could get a good, long rain! Fill the lakes back up and cool it off a bit!

I'm so glad you like the program! Now if we can just keep ya pieced together you can get your exercise mojo back! icon_wink.gif

Yeah, I'm working on it. I'm still not quite up to par, but I ran 17 minutes today and walked the rest of the hour. It's not 30 minutes of running, but at least it's something. And we're supposed to get rain this weekend. YAY!!

I'm not sure if I mentioned it on here, but I did decide to do the Restaurant Week dinner this weekend, after all. I figure I've stuck to the program 100 percent, I'm making great progress, and there's no question that it'll be limited to the one meal (and I won't even be going so crazy, since it's a set menu and everything; I'll ask for sauces on the side and extra veggies instead of my starch, and just enjoy my meal).

Hi, Laura. I dunno ... probably sheer terror at the thought of gaining it all back? I've done it before, and I really, really, REALLY can't stand the idea of being fat again. Plus I think I've finally learned to actually LIKE healthy foods. And if not enjoy exercise itself, I now at least appreciate the benefits I get from it.

Speaking of which, I have GOT to do a DVD this afternoon. I didn't run this morning because we had a big storm during the night (yay for rain!!), which meant I was up from 3 a.m. on with the dogs. It finally quieted down at almost 5 (although Teemu was still tunnelling under me), so I turned off the alarm and stayed in bed a little longer so I could at least doze off a little.

I think that's a great reason to keep it off! icon_smile.gif I hope the fear is enough to keep me on track, too!
