Okay, okay, if Nancy tells me to do it, I HAVE to do it!

Things I like about myself...
1. I have a good sense of color and can select appropriate nail polish hues to compliment my skin coloring...or I keep my nails well-groomed...
2. I like my hair. It's weird and crazy...just like me.
3. I like the fact that I put others first and do everything I can to help people (and dogs).
4. I like the fact that the Colorado Avalanche are doing well (so far) in the playoffs and that I am a rabid (I mean supportive) fan with unwavering loyalty.
5. I LOVE being tall! Even though short men try to make me slouch!
6. I love my taste in shoes.
7. I love that I don't let little things bother me anymore, I'm rolling with the punches much better.
8. I like the fact that I am good with money and finances.
9. I think it's funny that people ask ME for personal, people and relationship advice. I guess that means I'm getting wise in my old age. I like it though!
10. I like the fact that my body is changing into the body it should be!

Things I'm thankful for...
1. I'm thankful for my health...without that I'm nothing.
2. I'm thankful for the amazing family, friends, dogs and online friends that have decided to make my world a better place.
3. I'm thankful for the opportunites that have been presented to me because of my job.
4. I'm thankful that the Avalanche just might make it through the first round of the NHL playoffs.
5. I'm really thankful to whomever invented Tivo.

7. I'm thankful for the opportunity to help others. It fulfills me in a way I never dreamed of.
8. I'm thankful for My life, and for finally taking it back!
9. I'm thankful for the ability to travel, see the world (U.S. mostly)
10. I'm most thankful for you guys...walking this journey with me as I blossom into the person I was supposed to be the whole time.

Okay, Nancy, did I do good?

Now study your list and read it out loud 'til ya automatically think highly of yourself because we sure do!

P.S. I'm sending this via my telephone as we cross the Delaware River, headed to Times Square to meet Lauren. I cannot wait to see her in The Thin!

LAURA started this thread... to write the 10 things we are thankful for, and listing the 10 positive things we like about ourselves.

One can't read them without appreciating what you are. You are real. You are sensitive. You are genuine. You are gorgeous inside and out!

Our beloved NANCY wisely suggests that we repeat these positive things about ourselves over and over to reinforce our self esteem and self-confidence. And no more putting ourselves down!

We'd love it if more medifasters will come on this thread and tell us about yourselves. A few guys chipping in would be nice. You will inspire us and encourage yourselves. icon_hug.gif

You know what else I'm thankful for?...I am thankful that I am thankful!

Thank you again LAURA for inspiring us to write...and NANCY for caring so much for us...and all of you for sharing your selves with us. icon_heart.gificon_heart.gificon_heart.gif

Thank you, DEDE. I have been missing my ONDERWOMAN very much too! Are you doing okay?

We are going to be away for about five days, leaving Thursday, for several events in OKC. Mainly our granddaughter's high school graduation.

What do you know, I am out of my baggy dress clothes and need to get 'something' to wear tomorrow, or else!
Maybe I will get a few compliments from friends and family who haven't seen me for some time.

Also, having a family reunion in mid-June, but thankfully it will be here in Hot Springs, Yeah!

You take care and stay cool_007.gif, my friend.

I feel a little late in joining the party, but God's timing is always perfect, right?

10 things I'm grateful for:

1. The peace I have in the knowledge of my salvation through Christ
2. A husband who loves and serves God, and who inspires me to love and respect him more each day
3. A new-found career with Take Shape for Life that will allow me to not only capitalize on my strengths but will also challenge me to grow in the company of folks I really like and admire
4. Godly guidance from an array of mentors in so many areas of my life
5. The hope (not to be confused with wishfulness) I have that I will be at a healthy weight for the rest of my life
6. The joy of taking this journey with so many people I love and meeting so many other really cool folks along the way
7. The many comforts I enjoy as an American
8. Improving health which allows me to do more in a day
9. The weather in the Bay Area -- not too hot, not too cold...
10. The humor that 12-year-olds provide in my life on a daily basis

10 positive things about myself:
1. I'm a decent artist/photographer
2. My listening skills are improving
3. I love learning
4. I like being organized (notice I didn't say I AM organized! I just really like it when I am.)
5. I'm brave
6. intelligent
7. compassionate
8. devoted
9. I endeavor to be positive in all circumstances
10. I like new adventures

Wow! I had no idea how difficult this second list would be to put out there! As I wrote each one, there's a grimlin that brings up someone or some situation that could easily negate any of these.

I suppose the best action, of course, is to DECIDE who I am and BE that. And kick the nasty little grimlin to the curb...continually 'til he gets the message.

Yep, Nancy, positive self talk! Gotta practice.

Diana ~

Print it. Keep a copy in your car, in your desk and on the BR mirror - you rock!

When you're feeling puny in your spirit, read it out loud and chase away the icon_twisted.gif negatory thoughts.

You are becoming the person you were always meant to be! You are hand-fashioned, created for great things!

I can hardly wait to see you in Park City - your pants must be getting really baggy and saggy by now!

icon_mrgreen.gif quite baggy! Had to retire the aqua outfit!

As for printing this out and refering to it regularly -- you bet! And I intend for it to become a living document. Thanks for the encouragement and affirmation.

And I found a pic that REALLY shows the beginning of my weight loss journey! My m-i-l took it the month before I started. (I may post it if I can clean it up a little -- I think her camera has a light leak.) It's truly amazing. I look forward to showing it to you in Park City.
