How did it go at the doctor? Did they tell you what your Hemoglobin A1c is? Did they show you how to use your glucometer?? I want to know it all girl. I'll be checking the board to see if you're around.

| I have to go in tomorrow morning for my fasting blood work. I know how to use the glucose monitor. They said I need to take my sugar first thing in the morning and two hours after my night time meal. I will have to change my MF a bit because usually I have something an hour or so before bedtime. They want to do liver blood work too and thyroid levels since I have hypothyroidism. They also said that since it has been over a year I needed to see my eye doctor for diabetes related issues with my eyes. |

I just called my doctor to get the results of my HA1C. I realized talking to you that I never got my results. I have a screaming headache today so I'm getting ready to check my blood sugar now. Just because you only HAVE to check it twice a day doesn't mean you shouldn't check it more often. First thing in the morning and before each meal and 2 hours after each meal would really give your doctor the best information. THat is a LOT of finger sticking...but in the beginning it could really be good information. Let me know how it's going.

| I tried out my monitor tonight after dinner. My sugar was good-113. I just read how Nancy recommends bars at night. I will try that tomorrow. |

Hi, I'd like to just pop in here to say a couple of things. Diabetes is a strange disease and everyone reacts differently to their food, meds, liver production of insulin at night, etc. it is very important that you know "yourself". have you been to the classes at the hospital? The Am. Diabetes Assn. pays the insurance companies for you. they are fabulous classes, very informative.
Also, are you taking Thyroid? if you take thyroid, make sure you take your medicine an hour before eating soy or 2 hours after. if your thyroid is low, be sure to ask your doctor about bringing it up to normal.
success to you. Sue |

| I will ask my doctor about the classes. My sister took them when she was diagnosed and found them helpful. I take Levanthroid. Thanks for the hour before soy notice. I was told by my previous doc to take the thyroid meds 30 minutes before eating but didn't know about eating soy proviso. |

| soy doesn't allow the thyroid to absorb, hence the time frame. i'm glad i could offer that to you. |

Hey.........Sue is my health advisor!! It's nice to see her on the board I picked her to be my HA because she has diabetes as well. I felt I would get the best personal attention and advice from her and I've been right.
How's it going Biki? |
