I'm not ready to order my next month yet, but I've been looking at what's available. In the diabetic line I see:
bars - only chocolate and peanut butter
shakes - only vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate
Soups - only chicken noodle and minestrone
Oatmeals - I assume all flavors are acceptable.
Anyone else add non-diabetic supplements to their menu? |

| Thanks, Karen! Are the flavors I listed of the other products the only ones you use? I see an endicronoligist (I KNOW I didn't spell that right!) who knows I'm on the diet, but is not really overseeing it. I'm just been given guidelines about what to reduce when my glucose leves are at different levels for various lengths of time. |

Hi Jan,
The Cream of Chicken soup has an OK for diabetics on the box, but it is not a favorite of mine. I am also allowed the Chicken and Wild Rice soup which is Wonderful if you let it "steep" long enough to soften the chicken and rice bits. I do note that it does not have an OK for diabetics on the box though. The carb count on that is 12 gms. Between all these products and chicken boullion (Herb Ox brand is the best), I find I have plenty of variety......... so far anyway. Good luck! |

Many of our clients with diabetes are able to use the regular formulations of products. Dr. Andersen prefers that clients use the shakes and bars specifically for diabetics but that the other products except for the Creamy Tomato soup are usually well tolerated, especially after a person has been on the program for a while and see their numbers declining. The Chicken with Wild Rice soup is a good choice.
These products are considered to be Low Glycemic (Formulated for Diabetics):
Medifast Plus for Diabetics Shakes (all flavors)
Hearty Oatmeal: Apple Cinnamon
Homestyle Chili
Cream of Broccoli Soup (I really like this and I add about 1/4 cup of chopped fresh brocc just before eating soit is still crunchy)
Cream of Chicken Soup
Supplements Also Formulated and approved for Diabetics:
Diabetic Bars (only flavors are chocolate crunch and peanut butter crunch) Usually diabetics have their bar at bedtime IF they experience night time lows, otherwise in the afternoons.
Hearty Oatmeal - all the flavors: Maple and Brown sugar, French Vanilla Berry and the Apple Cinnamon listed above
Chicken Noodle Soup - good with a bit more parsley added and Mrs. Dash Basil and Tomato
Ready-to-Drinks 55 and the Fit! formulation is acceptable, too - Dutch Choc and French Vanilla
Medifast Plus for Appetite Suppression (all flavors)
Fruit Drinks (all flavors - Tropical Punch and Cranberry Mango)
Minestrone Soup
Essential 1 Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad
There you go - slurp, eat and skinny AND get your blood suagr to normal ranges ALL at the same time! |
