Hi! My name is Karen and I am also new at this. I have just finished day four. It has not been as hard as I thought it would be. Input from all the people on here has been great inspiration. I know if MF works for all these folks, it can work for me. Thank goodness I have not been hungry! (I hate that feeling), but I still WANT to eat. Hopefully that feeling will go away soon. I am motivated and plan to work hard. Thanks for all the support offered to us newbies. I too, am looking for a buddy.

Looks like there are several of us 'newbies' on the forum.

Karen and passion: Luna, Julia and I started on the 4th, 5th and 6th. There may be others out there as well. icon_smile.gif

Personally I would appreciate as many buds.gif as people who would want to be my friend and confidante. It's good to have people you can check in with when you have a moment.

PM me if you'd like at any time. I try to check the forum when I'm at work during lunch and will try to do so in the evenings as well. Now, while on vacation, I'm checking in regularly...

Welcome to the forum! You're on your way to a thinner, more radiant, you! drive.gif

Welcome Passion and Karen!!! wavie.gif

YES, you CAN do this. If I can, you can! The feeling of being hungry is pretty easily resolved on this plan with the extras of bouillion or fast soup or pickle, water, gum, soda. The feeling of wanting to eat does come and go for me - sometimes are harder than others. The key is being steadfast.

I saw a great quote the other day that I thought really applied to us that goes something like this:

"Before I start to do anything, I ask myself two questions: What is my goal, and will what I'm about to do bring me closer to my goal or farther away." Albert Einstein

Food for thought (zero calories!!!)

Nice to meet all of you. This is day 5 and I actually "forgot" to eat my 1:00 replacement..... well, for an hour or so anyway. I will still be able to get in all the supplements. I am feeling good and NOT hungry! I wasn't planning on weighing myself until Monday.... but I have a doctor's appt today and I know she will have me weigh. (cause you can't go to the doc for a broken fingernail that they don't tell you it is because you are overweight) I KNOW I've lost, if nothing but 30 gallons of water!! whew, this keeps me busy running.....

Hello !!
Welcome Passion, Pansy, Karen and gr8views!!

Glad to have you here with us!!

I will be on MF a month as of Monday the 15th.

I have gone over the 25 pounds lost mark, and am VERY happy dance.gif

Hang in there and you will begin to see a change, not only a loss of pounds but a change in the way you feel about yourself as you stick to the program and see how differently you face every day with pride in your
willpower, and your drive to be healthy and happy.

God Bless,
Shrink aka Mary

Camille,
I LOVE the Einstein quote!!
Thank you for posting it. It is now hanging on my fridge and I am putting one in my car as well on the dashboard, so I see it daily!

WOW!! mrsshrinkinglady.... 25 pounds in one month. Just knowing that that CAN happen will get me through tomorrow. I've lost 3 since I started on Monday, I hope to be down by at least 5 when I weigh in on the 15th. I really want to do a full fast, I am motivated enough, but the doc says that for diabetics, the 5 and 1 is the better deal :-(

Karen,

You are doing great. Do what is right for you and don't worry - the weight will come off in it's own time. We all lose weight at different rates and that doesn't mean either good or bad things. We're all just different! (Thank Goodness for that! It would be awfully boring if we were the same!)

I've been stepping on the scale daily during my first week. I'm going to do my best to NOT do that next week. I would rather not have the drama of not losing a pound one day. That happened to me two days this week, but I'm hopeful that tomorrow will show another loss. I'll do an official weigh-in on Sunday, then will try to stay away from the scale for a couple of days so I can get a GOOD surprise!!! icon_lol.gif

As a diabetic, do what you doctor says, come here for support, begin your exercise program in a few weeks, and watch the weight come off the way it is meant to come off of you! You can do this! We all are on the road to "Thinsville" together!

Hello, Hello, Passion!

Ooh, I LOVE that name! Go for your goal with passion, Passion, and you will reach it for sure!

This is so cool that there are several of you all beginning about the same time. You can help one another through the days ahead.

Isn’t it refreshing to experience hunger go away in a relatively short period of time? Yep, the old DESIRE sticks around a while longer but eventually the icon_twisted.gif voice that says, “go ahead, just one bite won’t hurt you” gets drowned out by the stronger voice that says, “You’re on a new path now, you don’t need that any more.”

I know that the holidays can be a difficult time to begin angel.gif a weight loss program, that is, if you allow it to be challenging. They are often very food-centered but if you keep focused, remain accountable to one another and plan your meals in advance, you can stick with your program and come out a winner. thumbsup.gif

Camille, I love the quote. That Einstein dude was pretty smart, eh?

Having that type of mentality is really what kept me on the path to my goal. I continually asked myself, “What do I want more? eatbowl.gif Pecan pie that lasts about five minutes in the mouth or being able to wear a icon_thumbup.gif bathing at the beach for a three week vacation?” That made my choice a whole lot easier. Besides, I know what pecan pie tastes like. I’ve had it before. LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of times!

Karen ~

People with diabetes may NOT go on the complete program. It is not in your best interest to do so. You MUST be on the 5 and 1. It is important to check with your doc or diabetes specialist often initially and to monitor your blood sugar several times a day. Your meds will most likely be adjusted.

Medifast is a superb program for diabetics. We will be coming out with a wonderful report very soon showing the results of the clinicals at Johns Hopkins. It will blow your socks off! People with diabetes lose twice as much weight as those on the ADA meal plan...

There is a misconception that people on the 5/1 lose weight slower than those on the complete program. If you follow the 5 and 1 exactly - you will lose weight fast and safely. When people super-size their 1 regular meal and have little bites, licks and tastes of things not on the program, the weight will not come off as quickly and cravings will return.

Be as diligent about sticking to the program as you are about brushing your teeth and you will reach your goal.
