Ok I'm getting ready to start exercising again.. I know to start off slowly etc. What I'm not sure is how do I judge if I need an extra shake? I don't want to go into starvation mode and I also don't want to have an extra shake if its not needed. How do I know?

The shake is only 90 calories. It's not going to make you gain weight. I have found that if I do not get enough food in me I will feel a little weak after a workout. I would rather take in the 90 extra calories than feel like passing out. I suggest you do the same.

When starting an exercise routine, TSFL, does recommend that you add a shake right after you work out at least in the beginning. Like D&S said, 90 calories is not going to make you gain and not having it could make you stall.
